**Job Overview**:A MPA certified 3rd Class Engine Driver is a skilled worker responsible for operating and maintaining engines, machinery, and equipment aboard SR Harbourcraft ensuring that the engine and related mechanical systems function smoothly and efficiently.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Operation of Engines**:

- Operate engines and other mechanical equipment according to instructions and established protocols.
- Ensure the engine runs efficiently, monitoring systems and performing necessary adjustments to maintain proper function.
- Control and adjust machinery speed, pressure, and output during normal operation and emergency situations.
- **Maintenance and Inspections**:

- Conduct routine inspections of engine components, fuel systems, and machinery to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Clean and lubricate engine parts as necessary to prevent wear and tear.
- Report any mechanical issues, faults, or abnormalities to senior engine room staff or engineers.
- Assist in minor repairs, troubleshooting, and maintenance tasks as directed by more senior engineers.
- **Monitoring and Troubleshooting**:

- Continuously monitor engine performance, including temperature, pressure, and fuel levels.
- Detect and respond to mechanical failures or abnormalities promptly.
- Assist in troubleshooting and identifying problems with the engine or auxiliary machinery.
- **Record Keeping**:

- Maintain accurate records of engine operations, fuel usage, maintenance, and repairs.
- Complete logbooks and report engine room activities, including any incidents or equipment malfunctions.
- Follow established procedures for logging operational data and safety checks.
- **Safety and Compliance**:

- Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents and equipment damage.
- Participate in emergency drills and safety training to be prepared for engine room incidents, including fire and mechanical failure situations.
- Ensure compliance with environmental and regulatory standards regarding emissions, fuel handling, and waste disposal.
- **Handling Fuel and Other Supplies**:

- Oversee the proper handling, storage, and transfer of fuel and lubricants to ensure engine functionality and safety.
- Ensure the correct operation of fuel and water systems, including monitoring levels and ensuring they are topped up as needed.
- **Emergency Response**:

- Assist in responding to engine failures, fuel leaks, fires, or other emergencies.
- Be ready to take control of engine operations in emergency scenarios, following standard emergency procedures.

**Required Skills and Qualifications**:

- **Experience**:Minimum of 2 years in engine operation or related fields, with a solid understanding of mechanical systems.
- **Technical Skills**:Basic knowledge of engine components, fuel systems, and related machinery.
