Climate Impact X (CIX) is a Singapore-based global carbon exchange and marketplace that aims to scale the voluntary carbon market; through a joint venture by DBS, SGX, Standard Chartered and Temasek.
CIX offers distinct platforms and products that cater to the needs of different carbon credit buyers and sellers. The Exchange facilitates the sale of large-scale high-quality carbon credits through standardised contracts - catering primarily to MNCs and institutional investors. The Project Marketplace and Auction offer a curated selection of NCS projects that can meet corporate sustainability objectives. Each project on the Project Marketplace and Auction is supported by transparent impact, risk and pricing data.

**Commercial Director (Exchange)**:
CIX is looking for a senior commercial role with accountability for building the client base and driving growth in liquidity and revenue around CIX's Exchange platform. The Commercial Director (Exchange)'s responsibilities will include shaping the sales strategy & commercial offerings for CIX's Exchange platform; engaging with clients (across traders, banks, corporates and other market participants) and stakeholders; identifying and securing strategic partnerships in relation to the Exchange platform; and working closely with the Product, Legal, Risk, Ops, Marketing, Platform and Tech functions to ensure the successful delivery and business operations of the Exchange.
The role will either be based in Singapore or London as part of a global Commercial team reporting directly to the Head of Commercial.
**Key responsibilities**:
- Establish, manage and grow relationships with clients and stakeholders so as to deliver the successful establishment and growth of the Exchange platform.
- Develop and shape the sales strategy & commercial offerings for the Exchange platform amidst a fast-moving and competitive landscape. This includes articulating growth plans for the Exchange platform, formulating robust sales forecasts, and the identifying key steps needed to achieve these plans.
- Execute and deliver against the sales strategy, including where necessary, engaging effectively with internal and external stakeholders to enable this. Be an effective sales team leader, providing leadership both by example and direction; as well as coaching and development support to the team.
- Work in close coordination with the COO Office and where necessary, play an integrative role together with the Product, Legal, Risk, Ops, Marketing, Platform and Tech functions to lead the coordination and articulation of the various touch-points, trade-offs across the spectrum of business considerations as the Exchange platform transitions from build phase to commercial go-live and beyond.
- Where necessary, engage with regulators and other stakeholders to represent CIX's position with respect to its Exchange platform.
- Understand the main business driver of current and potential clients; with the ability to define the value of potential solutions, demonstrating an understanding of their needs and product development to capture the imagination and interest of the client.
- Stay current on market developments, identifying new regulation/legislation and industry trends, products, developments in the voluntary and compliance carbon markets, and new trading/revenue opportunities and how they affect the network of clients.
**Key requirements**:
- At least 15 years' of work experience in the Commodity and/or Financial markets; with a strong focus in business development, sales and trading combined with demonstrable knowledge of the operational and governance requirements in an Exchange traded environment.
- At least 5 years of leadership experience; an entrepreneurial and commercial mindset; sense of responsibility with willingness to take initiative and work independently
- Ideally, specific experience in buy and/or sell-side of the carbon credit market, work in a Carbon Trading Desk, Brokerage, or Exchange; with a strong grasp of market dynamics in the carbon market (compliance and/or voluntary). Strong personal networks in the carbon credit and/or adjacent commodity markets would be a plus.
- Strong organisational, communication and interpersonal skills; An ability to work in a fast-paced, agile and lean environment.
- Degree in Business, Finance, Economics or equivalent
