**Position Summary**
The Principal conducts sourcing, due diligence and analysis of potential investments and develops investment recommendations with mínimal guidance from leadership. The Investment Principal will contribute to the ongoing influx of potential investment opportunities, will support portfolio companies as needed, including as a board observer. The Principal will represent the company at various events in the real estate industry, venture and startup ecosystems, and will build a strong network to source potential investments. The Principal must be able to work independently in a fast paced environment, provide significant deal flow to the team, and model the values of the company.

**Essential Responsibilities**
- Independently conduct investment research, financial analysis and modeling of potential investments, and lead the due diligence process for potential investments from start to finish
- Develop in-depth assessment of business plans, investment proposals and liquidation waterfall analysis to determine strategic fit, business model viability, industry and investment attractiveness
- Independently develop investment recommendations, supporting documents and provide an independent, value-added perspective on investment discussions
- Build strong relationships within the venture and startup ecosystems to source potential investments
- Build strong relationships with senior leaders in relevant business lines
- Represent the company at venture, industry and startup events
- Be a recognized thought leader in targeted areas, via authored white papers, blog posts, industry speeches and social media channels
- Assist portfolio companies with strategic help and advice, fundraising and operational support
- Participate as a board observer or board director on portfolio company boards of directors
- Other duties as assigned

**Minimum Experience and Qualifications**
- Five years’ experience in analytical, operational, financial or consulting positions
- Three years’ experience in Venture
- Strong financial modeling skills including the ability to analyze and model company financials and venture liquidation waterfall models
- Master’s in Business Administration, Finance, Data Science, Computer Science or similar Masters level degree
- Must be able to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced multi-team environment and work independently with deadlines requiring a quick turnaround
- Demonstrated ability to independently source deal flow from a well-developed personal network
- Demonstrated ability to form relationships with leadership of portfolio companies
- Demonstrated ability to represent publicly as a speaker and/or judge in industry events
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- Available for occasional overnight travel (up to 30%)
- Possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License and a driving record from the state of your primary residence that meets insurance standards
- Able to pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test
- Legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located

**Interactions: Supervision Received**: Plans and carries out work assignments and handles problems in accordance with instructions, policies, previous training, or accepted practices in the occupation. Consults with Team Leader on unique situations which do not have clear precedents
Supervisory Duties: May supervise Senior Associates, Associates, Analysts or Interns
