Cloud Operations Manager

This position is accountable for the development of processes to manage operations, assist in technical standards development, assist in architecture development, leadership and employee development. As a senior leadership position, this role is responsible for the hands on Technology and Business services for operations and delivery of Cloud offerings. The role will collaborate with Engineering, Architecture, Application Development, Corporate Systems, venders / service providers, and various infrastructure and operations groups to create and support an operational environment for new and existing services supported by Cloud Infrastructure.
**The Job**
- Overall responsibility for the day-to-day operations of managing Cloud Services including software deployment and upgrades, system setup, system administration, monitoring, incident resolution, problem management, configuration and change management, service desk, security management and monitoring, capacity planning, availability management, disaster recovery and routine update of services.
- Ensures timely liaison with vendors regarding problems, fixes, and required enhancements
- Creates and maintains strategies related to Cloud Infrastructure and Cloud Services throughout the enterprise ensuring all performance and cost curves are closely managed
- Drives the adoption, and articulate the risks/opportunities from leveraging Cloud Infrastructure
- Oversees and directs the timely evaluation, qualification, and implementation of new software products, tools, and related appliances as it pertains to the Cloud environment
- 5 years or more of IT Service Management, data center, server, and storage management, virtualization, Citrix, networking, systems management, and/or project management are recommended,
- Professional with experience leading large complex enterprise-wide infrastructure projects/programs with multiple interfaces and/or 3rd parties
- Experience supporting DevOps automation teams using tools such as Chef, Knife, Jenkins, Openstack Heat(HOT)
- 3rd party Cloud and CDN Provider Experience: AWS, Azure, Akamai, Rackspace, and/or IBM-Softlayer
- Standard Infrastructure Experience: Monitoring, DNS, DHCP, Backups, and Disaster Recovery
- 5+ years’ experience working as an Operations Manager with demonstrated success in operating mission critical enterprise software services. Experience launching new services and teams a plus.

**Responsibilities**:

- Cloud Engineering, Architecture Strategy and Planning
- Manage the infrastructure, systems and services to ensure smooth business operation
- Automating all aspect of provision, monitoring, patching etc where possible
- Conduct routine audits of environments to ensure compliance.
- Develop and document workflows and processes
- Prepare system design and technical documentation.
- Keep up with the cloud development especially tools in market place.
- Ensure that security is embedded by design.

**Financial Responsibilities**:

- Ensure Cloud assets are logged and accounted for
- Responsible for finding and killing Zombi infrastructure.
- Creating expense reports on time
- Adherence to departmental budgets

**Major Functions/Responsibilities**:

- Lead a team of Software Engineers and Analysts to support, design, develop, automate, test, deploy, maintain, and continuously improve public cloud platform enablement
- Accountable to review and provide the team with defined Cloud platform best practices enablement strategy, standards, procedures, tools, and processes
- Partner with Product leadership to complete work, provide requirements and stakeholder input.
- Provide management updates, status reporting, and dashboards from a platform health and security perspective to demonstrate platform progress and process maturity
- Work with Cloud hosting vendors pushing boundaries on organization cloud platform configuration.
- Enable and support product engineering teams hosting of products and services in the Cloud.
- Accountable to keep the public cloud enablement product and services up and running
- Drive and ensure alignment with Engineering peers and tech leads during strategy, planning, and delivery.
- Mentor the TechOps platform team to develop and perform as highly as possible.
- Partner with security, compliance, and identity and access mgmt. to identify and implement cloud platform gaps
- Applies strong analysis, research, and problem-solving skills across various systems and situations, including those that may be unfamiliar, to address critical issues.
