Maths Teacher

A. Position Requirements
- Educational Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics or related fields
- Certification: Valid teaching certification from a recognized institution or authority.
- Responsibility: Must showcase a track record of responsibility, both in professional settings and in interactions with students.
- Understanding of Duty of Care: Recognize the importance of duty of care in an educational setting and act accordingly to ensure the well-being of students.
- Experience: 2-5 years in teaching Mathematics

B. Responsibilities

Understanding curriculum standards and Principles of Mathematics
- Creating stimulating lesson plans to foster maximum student’s engagement in Mathematics.
- Developing a curiosity and enjoyment of mathematics, and appreciate its elegance and power
- Employing and refining the mathematical powers of abstraction and generalization
- Developing logical and creative thinking, and patience and persistence in problem solving to instil confidence in using mathematics
- Promoting the universality of mathematics and its multicultural, international and historical perspectives
- Adjusting teaching practices to support differentiated learning.
- Enabling students to independently and collaboratively extend their understanding of mathematics.
- Fostering curiosity, creativity and a lifelong enjoyment of mathematics learning.
- Taking part in the process of mentoring and supervising of the Extended Essay component and internal assessment component for Mathematics.
- Identifying and teaching study skills that will develop students' ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Planning activities and worksheets to include approaches to learning.
- Assists in managing curriculum and study courses for the students’ development.
- Provides students with structure and support in a safe learning environment to enable them to develop socially, emotionally, and morally.
- Introduces new study patterns among the students to develop their interest and do regular studies.
- Gives practical analysis of the courses to create interest.
- Develops the lesson plan in accordance with the curriculum guidelines and presents the lesson plans to the academic coordinators for approval.
- Plans lessons based on inquiry, focussed on conceptual understanding, differentiated to meet the needs of all learners, and informed by assessment (formative and summative)
- Reviews the feedback from the academic coordinators and revises the lesson plans accordingly
- Keeps up to date with the latest teaching aids, such as the use of technology in classroom learning, and integrate these into the teaching process
- Creates challenging and engaging learning opportunities for students, and fosters a classroom atmosphere that is conducive for learning
- Develops worksheets, handouts, and other learning materials in line with the lesson plan and curriculum, as well as the assessments and examinations.
- Responsible for the timely marking and correction of assignments completed by the students

C. Child Protection and Student Well-being
- Safety: Ensure a safe classroom environment, free from hazards, and be aware of emergency protocols;
- Emotional Well-being: Recognize signs of distress, abuse, or other issues that might affect a child's emotional and physical well-being;
- Reporting: Understand and adhere to mandatory reporting laws, ensuring that any concerns about a student's safety or well-being are promptly and properly reported to the appropriate parties;
- Training: Regularly update knowledge on child protection policies and practices;
- Confidentiality: Maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information related to students unless disclosure is necessary for the safety of the child or as required by law. All teachers must act in the best interests of their students at all times and uphold the values, vision, and ethical standards of the school.

Pay: $4,500.00 - $5,500.00 per month

Work Location: In person
