The product role involves in the development effort of Protection Portfolio. This role also supports the team in developing the new and enhancing the existing product and special projects in analyzing product performance, forming product strategy, engaging distribution channel, seeking customer insight and gathering market intelligence.

The product manager is to take part in the activities for product design, implementation, product launch and post-launch.
- The product design stage will include competitive analysis against similar products in the market, as well as researching for similar products in the region. In instances where there may be limited product information available, product manager will need to engage reinsurance for experience sharing.
- The implementation stage will include engaging the Product Development Team (PDT - a team made up of members from all departments who will be involved in the product launch) to ensure that systems are ready for the launch. During the implementation stage, the product manager is also responsible for preparing documents for the Product Committee Team (PCT - a team made up of the Appointed Actuary and company’s core Leadership members) for product approval, and subsequently the regional office (PCA).
- During the launch stage, the product manager is responsible to ensure that all marketing collaterals (e.g. brochures, product pack, website, etc.) and any launch communications are ready, and the launch plan is well communicated with all the stakeholders.
- During the post-launch stage, the product manager needs to track the sales performance of the products, as well as conduct post-mortem to analyse what went well, and what could have been improved. In addition, the product manager is responsible for the first few sessions of product training.
- The product manager is also responsible for “keeping in touch with the ground” by engaging the distribution channels on a regular basis to share our latest product developments, as well as to obtain feedbacks.
