ESL Gaming Group (EFG) is seeking an experienced, motivated, and dynamic Legal Counsel in the Asia Pacific Japan (APJ) region. The Legal Counsel, APJ will be an integral part of our international legal team and will support our growing business in APJ. This position is based in Singapore, reports to our global Chief Legal Officer with a dotted line to the regional Director in the APJ region. You should have excellent judgment in balancing legal risks with business strategy, the ability to learn new areas of law and function independently in a demanding fast-paced environment. Acting as the main point of contact for APJ, you will advise and support the regional business and corporate functions, including product, Sales, Marketing, IT, HR and Compliance. You will also be directly supporting multiple lawyers located globally on APJ related matters that arise in contract negotiations and commercial undertakings. We are looking for a highly adaptable and collaborative person who can handle ambiguity and rapidly shifting priorities with flexibility, patience, and poise.

**Responsibilities**
- You will be the EFG Legal team’s representative and first point of legal contact in APJ.
- Work autonomously, reporting back and seeking guidance as required from the Chief Legal Officer and your global counterparts in EFG Legal. For a large part of your working day, you will be working independently due to different time zones.
- Support our APJ businesses with legal advice and support on a broad range of operational and business matters, including, various commercial agreements, matters spanning intellectual property, sales, sponsorships, service agreements and SOWs (with suppliers), marketing, JV’s, NDAs, HR, data and privacy, and management of corporate governance matters for the EFG APJ region and its subsidiaries (supported by the Legal team in Europe and the USA).
- Reviewing and drafting contracts while negotiating a wide variety of agreements, with inputs from key internal stakeholders in Sales and Projects teams.
- Align with Regional and Global management teams to support them in development of their business strategies and thereafter lead the commercial agreements for joint ventures and partnerships, etc.
- Provide legal consulting and advisory to colleagues in various departments such as HR and Finance (Regulatory, IP, Data & Privacy, Procurement, etc.) as necessary on out-of policy positions.
- Provide legal support and advice to EFG colleagues leading M&A activities (in relation to the APJ region).
- Liaise and manage outside counsel as and when required, while partnering with leadership in the company.

**Requirements**:

- Qualified and admitted lawyer with at least 5 years PQE, preferably in a multinational technology in-house legal department setting.
- Previous experience with a reputable law firm or as part of a global inhouse organisation.
- Working knowledge of local, national, regional, and international laws and regulations.
- Demonstrate a high level of confidence and agility exhibited in client and partner interactions. Possess excellent client-service skills and an ability to interact with and effectively advise senior regional leaders. In key client interactions, must present ideas logically, assertively, and effectively. Facilitate consensus and use it effectively to resolve conflict and overcome resistance.
- Understands and incorporates enterprise-wide strategy and priorities into daily tasks and assignments. Demonstrates business acumen.
- Must have excellent organisational, time management and communication skills, and the ability to multitask in a rapidly changing environment.
- Self-motivated go getter with the ability to take on multiple projects at the same time.
- Ability to work a varied schedule based on the needs of the team.
- Ability to work autonomously and learn new software skills.
- Possess strategic and creative thinking, exercising great commercial judgment.
- Excellent legal research skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Fluent English. Additionally, business proficiency of regional language(s) is a plus. For example, Mandarin, Vietnamese, Korean, Japanese, and so on.
- Ability to travel (domestic and international).
- Affinity for esports and passion in gaming a plus.
