**About the Role**:
We are building a climate focused venture in the Agri space that will help smallholder farmers make the transition to regenerative farming and thereby securing their livelihood in the long term. We are looking for passionate people to join us on this journey and co-create this venture with us.

**Regenerative farming with smallholder farmers**

Unsustainable conversion or over-exploitation of forests and other natural habitats for food, fuel, fibre and other purposes threatens our natural life support systems, including soil, air, water, all living things, and the global climate, with serious implications for future generations.

Agriculture faces the immense challenge of producing enough food and fibre for 9.5 billion people by 2050, whilst alleviating poverty, providing employment and decent livelihood opportunities in rural areas, and conserving natural habitats and biodiversity.

A response based mainly on doing less harm will not be sufficient to meet these challenges. Instead, we need to reimagine global agriculture, shifting away from destructive resource extraction, and towards a net positive impact at scale, based on the creation and restoration of natural and social capital with our living landscapes.

**The opportunity**

Smallholders are trapped in a negative cycle that damages both themselves and the planet. There are nearly 550 million smallholder farmers worldwide who are producing 1/3 of the world’s food which feeds nearly 50% of the population in low
- and middle-income countries. According to FAOSTAT, smallholder farmers are responsible for roughly 5% of all emissions globally (across agriculture as well as agriculture driven land-use change). As food production gears up to double to meet the 2050 demand, transitioning half of the world’s agriculture land to regenerative agriculture could lead to sequestering all global emissions every year.

We believe there is an opportunity to build a differentiated venture to unlock the potential of smallholder farming. We are starting the prototyping and testing phase on this initiative - if this opportunity excites you, connect with us today.

**What you will do**
- Work alongside the Olam Ventures team and partners
- Define and validate an innovative business model
- Establish business operations in target markets
- Build key partnerships with multiple stakeholders
- Design and build the AL/ML enabled tech which is key to scaling this business

**Who we are looking for**

We are looking for looking for individuals with entrepreneurial mindset, a proven track record in building and scaling new businesses. We have a dedicated venture team who is validating problem statements, developing potential solutions etc. Together with this team you will work to identify the right go-to-market opportunities and build the business. We will be the initial investor and support platform to launch the venture.

We would love to get to know you if you have the following:
- Demonstrated experience building new corporate ventures / founding startups
- Experience working in or with smallholder ecosystem and/or agriculture is strongly preferred
- Passion about sustainability and motivated to make a real impact on climate change
- Go-to-market experience in Southeast Asia, countries like Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines would be an added advantage
- Enjoys the zero-to-one phase, including customer discovery, business model and product development and establishing team
- Willingness to learn and to be coached; self-awareness and flexibility
- Exceptional interpersonal and stakeholder management skills with the ability to communicate effectively
- A self-starter with a growth-mindset and proactiveness in working independently to drive toward results, in the face of ambiguity
