Product Developer

**ABOUT US**
Universal Parks & Resorts develops and licenses branded consumer goods and promotional products which are sold at retail theme parks and/or otherwise distributed worldwide. Product lines currently include toys, home product, children’s products, food/drinkware, apparel, souvenirs, jewelry, stationery, collectibles and candy/consumables.

**OVERVIEW**
The Product Developer needs to work with buyers, designer and international business partners in strategize and execute of product development within the agreed time across UPR-owned or -affiliated destination entertainment venues (both US and international)

This include understanding/coordination to carry out task related to product development in meeting varies quality standard and delivery requirement by different UPR-owned destination in accordance with regulations, Company brand standards and best practices.

The role requires to also work with vendors and suppliers in recommend changes to current product development that will meet the affiliated destination product safety standards.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Throughout the development process, product developers work closely with brand manager, supervisor and compliances team. This aspect of the role can involve tracking changes to licensor’s requirement and identifying manufacturing issues that arise from design/quality elements and ensuring that material/components and labelling use are correct and in a timely manner **(25%)**:

- Coordinate communication between business partners on leverage products and/or bidding. Correspondence of designs and product development with varies international buyer and assist in translating product specific merchandise and notes between Japanese /English languages. **(25%)**:

- Works in conjunction with individual buyer, designer to source product against specific brand and piece type needs. Analyze and troubleshoot product issues in a timely fashion and ensure smooth product development operations. **(20%)**:

- Understand and actively participate in UPRGM produce development meeting and calls in other time zones (Times other than standard business hours). **(20%)**:

- Facilitate the new vendor onboarding for international parks and carry out merchandising responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. **(10%)
**SKILLS & EXPERIENCE**:

- Minimum 5 years experience on international product development or in a similar Manufacturing experience in industry. Understand how product components and materials work together both functionally and aesthetically. Experience should include understanding Japan quality standard and import and export product between Japan/USA or equivalent combination experience.
- Well-versed in Microsoft office, especially Microsoft Excel & Powerpoint, good worksheet skills to generate structure reports.
- Simple editing/use of illustrator or photoshop is an advantage.

**PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS**:

- A Good team player, excellent interpersonal communication skills and willing to meet and communicate with international business partners. Able to multitask.
- Passionate in product development and wiliness to take calls after work hours due to different timezones.

**QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS**:

- Bachelor’s degree in business or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- English language (spoken/written/understanding) is required.
- Japanese language (spoken/written/understanding) is required.
- Knowledge of Japanese regulations and/or Asia product manufacturing is required.
- Strong prioritization and analytical problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects at once.
- Ability to work independently with mínimal supervision
- Willingness and ability to periodically travel internationally.
- Willingness and ability to communicate with speakers of foreign languages and people of other cultures.
- Willingness and ability to participate in meetings and calls in other time zones (times other than standard business hours).
