**Test Hardware Development Engineer (Thermal/Mechanical)**

**DESCRIPTION OF POSITION**:
Engineer position within AMD accountable for the design, development, and validation of thermal and mechanical components used in semiconductor product test equipment. Validate test equipment thermal control and mechanical compatibility with products that are in New Product Introduction (NPI).

**SPECIFIC JOB FUNCTIONS**:

- Document thermal and mechanical design requirements to develop product specific test solutions.
- Define thermal and mechanical design requirements to develop strategic solutions for future needs or to improve the reliability of existing solutions.
- Develop or work with external vendors to create thermal and mechanical components that meet design requirement.
- Ensure thermal and mechanical projects follow a proper development process (design, simulation, review, prototype, validation, and deployment).
- Collaborate with key internal staff members (Buyer, Maintenance, Supply Chain, Finance, Manufacturing) and external vendors to ensure on-time delivery and first time right.
- Provide technical support to product engineering, labs, and manufacturing locations in equipment bring-up, validation, and improvement initiatives leading to new product launches.
- Ensure proper documentation of equipment BOM (Bill of Material), technical specifications, and operating/maintenance manuals.

**REQUIRED SKILLS**:

- Familiar with thermal control principles applied in semicounductor testing.
- Hands on knowledge with 3D Design Software and Simulation (Solidworks, Thermal Simulation, or equivalent).
- Knowledgable in material science, including the ability to choose the right material to meet thermal transfer, safety and reliability requirements.
- Familiar with Automation Equipment Design (Pneumatic, Jig and Fixtures, or other).
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to create and discuss technical documentation and presentations.

**PREFERRED SKILLS**:

- Exposure to the latest technology in thermal/mechanical design solutions.
- Exposure to Monlithic, 2D, 3D package technology and thermal analysis.
- Experienced with handling different thermal sensor sources (RTD, Thermocouple, Thermal diodes etc.)
- Experienced with silicon product test equipment (ATE, System level test and Burn-in).
- Experienced with project management tools to manage large scale projects.
- Experienced with data analysis tools.
- Experienced with being part of a global team.

**REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE**:

- 1 to 2 years of engineering experience in thermal control system or mechanical design.
