
Scientist (Food Microbiology)

**Duties**
- Strategise and implement projects that allow rapid detection of microbials in food and related environmental samples to support food safety regulatory programmes and foodborne outbreak investigations.
- Provide solutions and perform tasks that strengthen laboratory productivity via automation and digitisation.
- Conduct studies, analyse results, and showcase the scientific achievements through peer-reviewed journal and delivery of presentation on specialised areasin management meeting, national and international platforms.
- Conduct literature search for preparation of technical papers and provide updated scientific knowledge to support operations and review of regulatory standards.
- Implement laboratory quality assurance programmes, including writing SOPs, conduct internal quality control testing and participate in international proficiencytesting to ensure that the laboratory practices are in full compliances with ISO/IEC 17025:2017 quality standard.
- Provide support in routine laboratory operations, such as quality assurance programme, procurement of lab equipment and consumables, contract management, etc.
- Carry outadministrative and laboratory duties as assigned by supervisor tomaximize laboratory efficiency.
**Qualifications/ Other Requirements**
- Ph.D, Master, BSc with experience in Microbiology, Molecular Biology,Biological Science, Food Science, Virology, or other relevant disciplines.
- At least 1 year of hands-on laboratory experience in (food) microbiology andmolecular biology in diagnostics or research laboratory.
- Excellent writing and presenting abilities are essential.
- Must be self-motivated, able to work independently, a team player, andprepared to take on extra responsibilities as needed.
- Must have a good mindset to multitask in a fast-paced atmosphere and provideresults within deadline.
- Experiences in SOP, report and project proposal writing would be anadvantage.
- Working knowledge of advanced molecular biology techniques, including NGSinstruments and bioinformatics analysis, would be beneficial. Knowledge of quality assurance program and ISO/IEC 17025:2017 laboratoryquality system is an advantage but not a must.
