**Job Introduction**:
The Money, Work and Technology team reports on stories of regional and global importance, providing insightful analysis, original stories and explanatory journalism for audiences in the UK and around the world.

The Singapore bureau leads the BBC’s business coverage across all of Asia-Pacific. We report on business, economics and technology for all of the BBC’s platforms - digital, television and radio. Our reporting is accurate, impartial and clearly explains complex topics to a wide audience.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Journalist-Digital who is a brilliant wordsmith and has outstanding news judgement to lead our online coverage of business, economic and technology news in Asia-Pacific and grow our regional and global audiences.

**Main Responsibilities**:
You will have a passion for business and economics, a global perspective and a proven ability to relate this to a broad audience. You will also possess sharp editorial instincts to spot important and urgent news of the day and also unearth stories and turn them into content that will engage audiences around the world.

In this role, you will be expected to commission, write and deftly handle story edits, from breaking news and short items to longer-form features and analysis, with confidence and an eye for detail. You will edit stories to the highest standards, with attention to accuracy, fairness, impartiality, ensuring copy is in accessible language.

You will enjoy collaborating with colleagues in the bureau, as well as in London and New York and will be keen to experiment with new storytelling formats, including digital video.
You will work closely with the Asia Business Correspondent to deliver high-impact stories that cut through as well as mentor and develop skills and talents of more junior colleagues.

You will be adaptable to the needs of a live newsroom and expected to work flexibly across other roles, if required.

This is a newsroom-based role.
- Deep knowledge of business and economic affairs, particularly of the United States as well as Asia Pacific economies.
- Excellent writing and subbing skills, the ability to produce clean and clear news stories under tight deadlines and an eye for headlines
- Proven editorial judgment and flair, able to make valid editorial decisions quickly and independently, with an understanding of the importance of impartiality and journalistic values.
- Skill and experience working with writers at every stage of the story process, from pitching and honing ideas all the way down to close line editing.
- Substantial experience in digital journalism, including knowledge of content management systems
- Knowledge of audience analytics and engagement and how to boost audience growth through our story choice and storytelling
- An understanding of what makes good digital video and experience in producing such video would be an advantage.
- Ability to work cooperatively within a small team of journalists when under pressure and a desire to mentor less experienced team members
- Flexibility and willingness to work unpredictable hours if needed
- Adaptable in a changing news environment and enthusiasm to take on other responsibilities when required
- High level of interpersonal and communication skills, especially working in a multi-cultural environment. Strong team-working skills needed - must be able to work collaboratively in an environment where news is constantly changing.
- Fluency in spoken and written English is compulsory. Fluency in a regional language is an advantage.
