**What the role is**
- The Singapore Botanic Gardens (SBG) is one of the oldest tropical botanical gardens and one of only three botanic gardens in the world inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The SBG is a Division of the National Parks Board which is responsible for Singapore’s network of parks and nature reserves.

**What you will be working on**
- You will be part of a team that will set up long-term monitoring of birds and mammals as part of NParks’ Tropical Forest Ecology Research Programme. Specifically, you will:

- Carry out bird surveys and camera-trapping in the programme’s network of permanent forest plots
- Plan for surveys and prepare the necessary permissions and equipment prior to each session of field work
- Manage the data acquired, including sorting and identification of animals captures in photographs/videos and audio recordings
- Maintain equipment and support procurement needs of the project
- Oversee interns, volunteers and research students attached to this study
- Assist in data analysis, visualisations of data, making of maps, drafting of reports and presentations and conduct of workshops to share the knowledge and findings from the study

**What we are looking for**
- Basic and/or postgraduate degree in Life Sciences, Biology, Ecology, Environmental Sciences or related disciplines
- Physically fit enough to carry equipment and walk long distances in forested terrain and carry out field surveys
- Preferably with experience with bird surveys or camera-trapping studies
- Organised, meticulous and independent
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment under time pressure
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English language
- Prior experience with Geographic Information System (GIS) software and with scripting languages (e.g. R or Python) would be advantageous
- Possession of Class 3 Driving License will be an advantage
