Director

Our most senior ‘hands on’ creative, the Senior
Director at Eight Inc. is a brilliant, encouraging
generalist with a seamless understanding of the
power and possibilities of every aspect of our
’product’. They must constantly strive to develop,
shape and expand our offer by introducing new
ideas and taking a pivotal role in the culture and
growth of our organization.
A high-energy level, entrepreneurial spirit and
proven success in creating quality work at the
highest level, they own nearly sole responsibility for
the creative success of multiple projects at once,
as well as the personal success of those that work
under their direction. They must have polished and
con f ident presentation and listening skills with the
ability to interact with a variety of disciplines.

As a talented practitioner, the Director
helps create an environment within our
studios where brilliant work can be
brought to life, working closely with local
senior Directors and Principals to ensure
the highest creative output from their
respective studio.

As a client facing team member, the
Director for Environments must be able
to interact with clients, responding to
their needs, and conducting professional
presentations and guide projects to
successful completion.
As a team manager, this individual is able
to oversee and direct other creative
personnel within the studio and maintain
professional relationships. Collaborating
with senior leadership within the studio,
they contribute to the development of a
recruitment plan, identifying if and where
there are skill gaps in their studio. They
will also follow policies and procedures
already in place, to actively learn and
develop our business methodology.
A Director is an avid thought leader in
their space, generously sharing their ideas
with everybody at 8, our clients, and the
outside world, and growing their careers
to be able to represent Eight Inc. in future
panels, judging, award competitions and
speaking events.
A gifted, mature design practitioner with
an ability to work well under pressure,
often under critical deadlines. A self
- starter with high degree of initiative
requiring mínimal supervision and a team
player with excellent oral and written
communication skills.

and external facing, embodying our

with an ability to interact with all levels of
our organization globally.

The Director will guide a multi-disciplinary design team through the project, keeping
the team on track and establishing the thought leadership that will guide the
outcome. They must be adaptable to fast-changing situations, adept at answering
tough questions from clients, and diplomatic in assessment of clients’ needs. As a
central f igure in the de f inition and development of each project vision, it is critical
that they make clients feel both comfortable and engaged in the design process and
its underlying strategy.
The Director participates in writing proposals (collaborating with the Principals and
business development team and other discipline leads) and in making pitch
presentations to prospective clients.
The Director must demonstrate, and continue to hone, outstanding verbal, writing
and presentation skills. They must be comfortable and adept standing in front of
clients’ C- and VP-level executives in both pitching the new project and making the
deliverable presentations. They are skilled at f inancial analysis and business case
development, and capable of spontaneous ideation and problem solving. Knowledge
of presentation tools, such as Keynote, is also essential.
The goal of this role is to provide integrated insight into new and existing
opportunities. To that end, the Director must be highly skilled and experienced in all of
the following realms:
Understanding People — uncovering user needs, assessing and responding to the
dynamics of the client’s team.
Understanding Design and Business — helping our clients to f ind new opportunities
for market growth based on industry and market trends.
Understanding Technology — highly knowledgeable about new technologies and their

team, and be a trusted advocate for their needs. This role requires an experienced
Director capable of articulating strong vision and strategies, as well as overall group
oversight and project direction, including:

Project Delivery...
—In collaboration with Principals, manage, monitor and
evaluate the effectiveness and value of client
deliverables; ensure the services meet the highest
standards of creative quality, performance and
