Job Summary

Functions as a Mechanical technical specialist in a lead role, provide technical guidance over a group or supervise engineering staff. Under general direction, the SME, Mechanical develops and applies advanced engineering techniques, concepts and approaches to complex engineering problems. As an experienced Mechanical Specialist in your field, you will be responsible for the delivery of day to day operations in a data centre setting. Working in collaboration with other peers such as mechanical specialist, you will ensure the integrity of the date centre's overall M&E operations.

**Responsibilities**:

- Provides guidance and direction on department design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes and policies.
- Assists in developing, maintaining and updating engineering standards
- Provides technical guidance to others regarding all mechanical matters
- Supports continuous improvement and change management efforts
- Performs complex research and develops recommendations for equipment improvement
- Understand complex engineering calculations following standard methods and principles
- Independently applies advanced engineering techniques and analysis problems and methods
- Ability to build and sustain effective relationship with customers
- Ability to perform complex business case analysis to justify technical decisions to management in a high-level review
- Work with local utilities to understand and define site utility requirement based on regulations
- Travel to sites for site review and work with onsite field engineers, as well as provide engineering evaluations, mechanical systems audits, and start-up as needed
- Work with commissioning teams to properly test and validate installation, operation, and performance of mechanical systems
- Work with internal teams to understand end user and client requirements
- Familiar with the design and details of mechanical systems to produce operational documents
- Active participation of site equipment selection reviews
- Knowledgeable in critical data centre equipment design such as Chillers, Crac Units, HT/LT Switchgear, ventilati and Fire Detection/Suppression systems

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Qualifications
- Preferably Degree in Mechanical Engineering related field or relevant trade certificate in Facilities management with experience in mechanical system design or integration
- Minimum of 5 years related work experience with mission critical facility experience in a data centre
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Fluent computing skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Good multi-tasking capabilities
- Ability to troubleshoot problems and address root causes
- Team oriented with a strong focus on effective team dynamics
- Strong organisational, leadership and analytical skills
- Knowledge of building codes and regulations
