Vice President, Finance

**JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to the President, the Vice President of Finance oversees all financial matters for Capella Hotel Group (CHG), including members of the Finance team for both corporate and hotel finance and accounting. The VP of Finance is responsible for production of financial reports, banking relationships, monitoring of cash flow and creation of a comprehensive budgets. Collaborate with senior leaders and owners/owners’ representatives and provide financial advice in support of strategic decision making and business performance, provide guidance to the finance teams at all the properties under management, business support to the General Managers of the properties and the CHG management team, whilst keeping a line of sight goal to develop the quality of the finance function and to improve internal control at the properties.

**THE ROLE
**Financial Accounting and Control**
- Lead and define the roles, responsibilities and ways of working among Corporate and Hotel level Finance team.
- Provide guidance on management of the accounting records and financial reporting of all properties, to ensure compliance with company, owner, statutory and fiscal requirements and timelines.
- Ensure legal and tax compliance and that adequate insurance cover is maintained.
- Liaise and work with both internal and external auditors. Ensure that follow up on corrective action arising from audit findings is promptly taken where required.
- Work with hotels to review financial analyses of hotel operations including variance explanation and make recommendations to ensure the achievement of business goals/targets across all properties.
- Reviews, monitors and analyses financial performance against established goals and benchmarks by managing workstreams to drive cost efficiency and savings.
- Review annual budget and capex prepared by the hotels.
- Analyze ROI for capital projects prior to committing funds and upon completion determine if anticipated results were achieved.
- Develop and administer audit practices through self / peer assessments in the field; i.e. hotel level self-assessment, peer audit and annual corporate audit.
- Develop management information reports and performance measurements that are timely and accurate.

**Business Partnership**
- Support and advise CHG Management and Hotels on financial and business issues, including the interpretation of financial data.
- Support business initiatives, major pricing decisions and other decision making.

**Business Support**
- Provide analysis and delivering insight that links financial reports to business strategies for both cost and revenue against market / industry.
- Use financial analysis, data trends and market information to anticipate needs, identify operating/financial issues, and recommend actions to maximize financial performance across markets. Support the VP Business Development, leading the organization in exploring business opportunities that create value for our Owners while driving profit.
- Validate and measure strategic execution or initiate change to ensure key operational, commercial and financial targets are delivered.
- Maximizes profitability of hotels through benchmarking/best practices and ensures sound controls and accounting standards are in place as per company Policy & Procedures to safeguard return to the owners.

**Hotel Pre-opening**
- Preparing the schedules for the A&G budget and working capital budget, VP Finance will work together with Sales & Marketing team to prepare the projected P&L and to review the pre-opening budget before presentation and submission to owner.
- Provide guidance and support to the Property Finance team in the lead out to opening.
- Be the point of contact with Owners during hotel pre-opening prior to appointment of Director of Finance to deal with finance related issues.
- Engage with local government and tax authorities to establish / facilitate the local requirements for licensing, company setup, and tax directly or through the General Manager or Director of Finance.
- Lead on the tasks as per the finance pre-opening checklist practices more efficient.Annual Business Plan and Rolling Forecast.
- Drive the annual business plan process for all CHG properties.
- Review and work with all related parties to produce meaningful budgets and accurate forecasting.

**TALENT PROFILE
- Masters/Degree in Finance or Accountancy preferred.
- Minimum 10 years in the capacity of Director of Finance or 2 years as VP, Finance in the hotel industry
- Good understanding of Financial Reporting Standards
- Knowledge of key business processes of the hospitality industry
