**Roles & Responsibilities**
The Moly-Cop business currently has nine facilities located throughout Australasia, South and North America. The business supplies steel consumables, primarily grinding media to the Copper Gold mineral processing sector. The business has revenues in excess of $1.2Billion and employs more than 1700 direct employees.
Moly-Cop’s raw material feedstock strategy incorporates a range of supply options including domestic sourcing, make own via our two EAF steelmaking facilities located in Australia and Canada and importing ~300KT of bar principally from China. This role would support the sourcing and commercial functions of the organisation through timely steel market insight and intelligence.
**Role Purpose**:
As a key team member of our trading hub operation the role supports the Vice President - Trading and Regional Presidents in;
- Understanding the steel market fundamentals to enable rapid and informed decision making in executing the Group’s steel procurement strategy with the objective of achieving the lowest cost of raw materials.
**Role Accountabilities**:
1. Establish and maintain key economic and market intel/data sources
2. Provide analysis and insights on relevant steel and related commodities to executive management to build understanding on drivers influencing our key input cost
3. Build and maintain relationships with market participants (research houses, physical players, banks, brokers, etc) to share and develop market intelligence.
4. Make recommendations based on robust analysis where opportunities emerge to take procurement positions.
5. Develop models to support the demand supply forecasting process.
6. Provide insights and input to the annual market plan, budget and business planning processes.
7. Publish reports and write original research which articulates key industry issues, insights and market outlooks.
**Qualifications & Experience**:
- Degree qualified in (Economics, Finance, Engineering Mathematics or Quantitative degree - Masters or Graduate degree preferred
- 2-4 years Professional experience in commodities markets - Steel or Mining
- Experience in client communication, presentation of ideas, and business development.
- Trading or western Company experience valued
- English language a must Mandarin highly valued
**Functional Competencies**
- Excellent written and oral presentation skills - ability to tell the story
- Research and data analytics experience and ability to build into a sophisticated presentation and key messages
- Strong quantitative skills and advanced proficiency in statistics and Excel
- Clear communications style to work with internal stakeholders, market participants, and executive management.
