Based in Singapore, the role will be a member of Marsh McLennan’s (“MMC’s”) Asia Pacific, Middle East & Africa Tax team reporting to the Head of Tax - Asia Pacific, Middle East & Africa (“APHOT”). Working closely alongside various MMC Tax colleagues in and outside Singapore, the role will provide strong support to the APHOT in managing Asia regional tax matters across all of MMC’s business activities. The role will have primary jurisdictional responsibilities covering the Asia countries outside Greater China and the India Sub-Continent (e.g. Southeast Asia, Japan, Korea) but may be called upon to assist the APHOT with matters in other countries in the Asia Pacific, Middle East & Africa region, when required. **We will count on you to**:

- Providing tax advisory support and direction to various MMC colleagues on general tax matters in the Asia region. Interfacing with MMC Tax colleagues globally on global initiatives and dealing with any Asia regional or local in-country issues arising.
- Identifying risks and opportunities, as well as planning, designing and managing tax projects to effectively manage MMC’s effective tax rate and tax compliance requirements. This could include working with relevant business functions across the Asia region to ensure supportable tax positions for business transactions, reviewing permanent establishment exposures, withholding tax consequences, etc.
- Providing analyses and recommendations of tax positions, and effectively engaging with key stakeholders (in and outside the MMC Tax team) to ensure communication and understanding of such matters. This includes supporting, from a tax perspective, MMC’s M&A activities, restructuring initiatives, treasury funding issues, dividend flows, equity investment/capitalization issues, establishment of new business entities, rationalization of Group organizational structure, etc.
- Managing tax audits and dispute resolution initiatives in conjunction with various Finance and Business colleagues.
- Supporting the quarterly and year-end group tax reporting processes. Review and contribute to the determination of FIN 48 provisioning of open corporate income tax issues based on submissions made by the Controllership team.
- Reviewing the tax returns and tax summary memorandums of key MMC entities across the region produced by outsourced service providers in order to support the Controllership in determining appropriate tax filing positions, as well as to identify tax risks and opportunities.
- Effectively managing the use and performance of external tax advisors so as to ensure appropriate external tax advisor fee spend.
- Providing appropriate levels of tax training to MMC’s Asia colleagues, when required.

**What you need to have**:

- Degree in Finance, Business or relevant tax qualifications.
- 10 to 12 years of relevant tax experience ideally gained from public accounting practice as well as in-house tax positions, primarily around corporate income taxes but with appropriate appreciation of indirect tax and transfer pricing issues Strong strategic mindset as well as a proven leadership record in policy planning and execution of indirect tax initiatives.
- A strong background in dealing with regional tax matters in the Asia region, as well as an understanding of US tax principles and US GAAP, will be advantageous.
