The Singapore Botanic Gardens is one of the world’s leading centres for tropical plant taxonomy and conservation research. Over its a rich history of research that spans more than a hundred years, it has made a significant contribution to the knowledge of plant diversity in Singapore and the Southeast Asian region and played a significant role in supporting the greening of Singapore, spearheaded by its parent organization, the National Parks Board. The Gardens publishes The Gardens’ Bulletin Singapore, a key scientific journal for tropical botany.

As the Director of Research and Conservation, you will lead the research team, comprising research staff in the Herbarium, Micropropagation Lab, Molecular Biology Lab, Seed Bank, and the Library of Botany and Horticulture.

The key responsibilities are:

- Advance the scientific mission of the Gardens and the National Parks Board in the areas of botanical and conservation research and restoration.
- Manage the administration and budget of the Research and Conservation branch.
- Manage the different teams in the Research and Conservation branch to enable them to fulfil their goals and targets.
- Work with the management and other branches in Singapore Botanic Gardens to advance the goals of the Gardens.
- Oversee the _Flora of Singapore _Project, publication of _Gardens’ Bulletin Singapore _, and the popular magazine _Gardenwise _.
- Forge collaboration with regional botanical institutions and contribute to the advancement of tropical botanical research such as on the _Flora of Thailand _, _Flora of Peninsular Malaysia _and _Flora Malesiana _.
- Contribute to tertiary level education in botany and conservation through collaboration with local tertiary institutions.
- Undertake plant diversity research that is aligned to the goals of the Gardens and the National Parks Board.

**Requirements**:

- PhD in botany, plant taxonomy, conservation biology, plant ecology, or related discipline.
- Excellent track record in plant diversity research and publications.
- At least 10 years of relevant experience in managing a research team.
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills with good command of English.
