- Position Description
- Vantage is looking for a detail-orientated and driven Manager, Automation Systems, APAC in the Development & Engineering team to lead the development of automation systems in Vantage facilities. In this role, you will be responsible for leading a team of highly skilled Automation Engineers focused on development and commissioning of datacenter critical control and monitoring systems, and will be accountable for the design, implementation and validation of automation systems in all existing and new developments for the Europe, Middle East and Africa regions. You will be as well the point of contact for the rest of departments leaders involved in the project cycle (Solutions Engineering, New Site Development, BIM, Engineering PM, CSA, Construction, Design Engineering, Security, IT and Operations). Regular collaboration and coordination is required with the other managers and directors of the other Vantage development regions as well as with the Innovation Engineering team, to ensure consistency of product delivery.
- Essential Job Functions
- Grow, develop and manage the Automation System team in the APAC region
- Manage the APAC Automation Systems team to optimise effectiveness and improve competency for all team members
- Accountable for controls systems design compliance with relevant law, standards and procedures mandated by clients or relevant authorities
- Demonstrate and implement best practices for project implementation in line with lease agreement, project budget and agreed scope
- Contribute to the adaptation and review of project-specific design documents with controls deliverables and multi-disciplinary dependencies
- Work in a collaborative environment on-site, in country, and on a global scale during project design, construction and operational phases
- Duties
- Develop technical and commercial standards for building automation control systems
- Drive and implement rigorous quality standards for all aspects of the automation delivery from initial concept to final commissioning and handover
- Continually evolve the automation systems to improve efficiency, productivity and optimise specifications for the design and development of building automation systems
- Support in technical meetings and commercial discussions internally and client-interfacing
- Drive internal automation reviews to align with Vantage and industry standard specifications with considerations to network optimisation and cyber resilience
- Assertive and confident and able to quickly build a high level of personal and professional credibility within the business and customer base
- Manage direct reports, third party specialist resources and track staffing utilisation
- Be responsible for all documentation related to the control and automation of equipment for each site
- Work effectively in collaboration cross-functionally to achieve shared goals and deliver business objectives
- Expert understanding of automation systems in mission critical environments
- Skills, Knowledge and Experience
- Bachelor of Science in Mechatronics, Computer Science, or equivalent work experience required
- 7+ years of experience in Industrial Automation required
- Data Center experience is strongly preferred
- Expert knowledge of automation systems in a mission critical environment
- Advanced knowledge of Ignition (by Inductive Automation) software platform is required
- Proficient with industrial PLC systems manufactured by leading edge, large-scale vendors
- Strong industry experience with IT administration at the software layer and with network architecture
- Excellent communication skills to effectively work with and present information to executive management, construction, operations, sales engineering and finance
- Travel required is expected to be 15 to 25% but may increase over time as the business evolves
