Monitor Main Engine and Diesel Generator performance on a regular basis and provide solutions to Fleet Managers & Superintendents for improving efficiencies.
- Monitor the fleet vessel’s mails daily to identify any breakdowns or serious machinery defects and guide the Fleet Manager and Technical Superintendent for taking appropriate action. Follow-up for resolution of fleet wide technical issues, till close out.
- Assist the Technical Superintendent/Fleet Manager during any major breakdown till its rectification and completion of Root Cause Analysis.
- Carry out Root Cause Analysis of major breakdowns/incidents and commonly occurring defects and issues in the fleet. Prepare corrective measures and lesson learnt for implementation across the fleet.
- Inspection of fleet vessels on a regular basis to identify common defects and/or areas for improvement. Conduct training of ship staff on key technical issues and for enhancing the safety culture onboard.
- Provide guidance and support to Technical Superintendent in preparing the dry docking repair specification. Review and finalize the repair specification together with the Superintendent, prior submission to Owners.
- Keep abreast of all the new regulations applicable to the fleet vessels and ensure effective and timely implementation of these.
- Keep the technical circulars/ recommendation/modification repository from makers for Main Engine, Auxiliary Engines and Auxiliary Boilers updated on a regular basis.
- Prepare technical circulars for fleet information/ broadcast on any technical matter as and when required. To oversee fleet-wide implementation of any machinery modification/updates/ supply.

- Maintain contact with classification societies, shipyards, repair firms, industry groups, trade associations, equipment manufacturers and designers, government bodies and other organizations that may be helpful to carry out the assigned duties and responsibilities.
- Provide support and guidance and follow up with the R&D team at Samundra Institute of Maritime Studies (SIMS) till completion of technical projects.
- Identify training needs by carrying out gap analysis between practical requirements and actual issues being faced by Superintendents & shore staff for inputs to improve training imparted at SIMS.
- Mentoring and training of new and existing Technical Superintendent.
**JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Educational Qualification Should be at-least Diploma in Mechanical or Marine Engineer
- Must-Have Worked in New Ship Building Yard or Ship Management as Manager or above roles for at least 15 Years.
- Proficient in Dry Docks and repair works, including the BWTS retrofits of LPG, Tankers, Bulk Career, and Containers.
- Experience of Pre-purchase and condition Surveys would be an added advantage.
