
Business Development Executive, Inside Sales, Asia

Introduction:
This is a Business Development Executive role to support the Economist Impact Event sales team in Asia, and working with them to unearth new opportunities for growth, and supporting them with the necessary administrative needs of the team.
A key skillset is the ability to understand the target audience of The Economist Group, positioning our brand well in lead generation outreach, and catalyse conversations for the sales team to take up and bring to formal proposal.
Accountabilities:
**How you will contribute**:
- Supporting the sales team to meet and exceed Event Sponsorship revenue targets for The Economist's suite of Sponsorship solutions
- Prospect and reach out to sales leads, monitor the sponsorship of competitive events
- Work with South East Asia team on short and long range plans for improved revenues, policies and problem solving
- Maintenance of Salesforce for the South East Asia team
- Maintenance of agency contact database in the region
- Develop and execute a strategic and “always on” lead generation campaign
- Liaise with finance team to support in the swift raising and payment of invoices
- Liaise with events planning team to ensure reports accurately reflect the deals in house
- Work with legal team on the drafting of contracts
- Client facing communication to support account management
- Attend weekly sales meetings, support the monthly plan and review sessions and update customer and prospect records timely and accurately in Salesforce
Experience, skills and professional attributes:
**The ideal skills for this role are**:
- Bachelor degree holder in economics, business or marketing, communications (preferred)
- Understanding of the media and event landscape and general marketing
- Familiarity with targeted high level sponsored activities and ability to articulate the concept of thought leadership as a marketing strategy
- Strong general business, political and current affairs knowledge.
- An understanding of the workings of advertising and media agencies is an advantage
- IT literate (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Salesforce)
- Knowledge of specific software packages or other technical IT skills
- Strong client centric communication skills
- Proven ability at managing internal stakeholders
- An excellent communicator with a strong presence, good presentation skills and rapport with internal stakeholders
- Proactive approach to supporting the team
- Ability to spot and exploit commercial opportunities for the Group and to take part in product/idea development process
- Ability to be a results-oriented, self-starter with the drive and determination to succeed
- Ability to be independent and resourceful, but committed to being a team player
- Ability to be well-organised and efficient at managing time to meet target deadlines with mínimal supervision and ability to cope well under pressure
