**Senior Mechanical Engineer, Digital Microscope**

**Overview**
- Responsible for designing state-of-the-art precision mechanisms for Leica market-leading microscopy products.
- Generate and conceptualize new ideas for innovative solution.
- Involve in design and development process from prototype to series production.
- Conduct design review and iteration to optimize new solution for cost, process and quality.
- Sustaining quality of existing solution.
- Interact with suppliers and operation for design improvement.
- Support design qualification process.

**Responsibilities**
Support Mass Production And Procurement
- Help and support mechanical components/systems procurement
- Ensure the availability of our products over their entire life cycle with respect to the best possible price and quality

**Mechanical System Design**
- Combining market needs with mechanical solutions, implement the product specification in a completed solution including all dimensions and tolerance
- Received mechanical design/concept with optimum cost/benefit ratio for a new, competitive product

**Mechanical Development Process**
- Improving the mechanical development process
- Enhance design transfer to reduce mechanical design changes after product launch.

**Primary Documentation**:

- Review & revise if applicable the primary documentation of mech. components and systems
- Ensure that producers receive a complete and standardized primary documentation

**Technology And Know-How**:

- Share knowledge, utilize market/technology information to meet customer needs.
- Know how transfer, develop innovative products, identify opportunities and risks of the technology and plan development time
- Comply and adhere to company Quality Management System and Environment, Health & Safety requirements

**Requirements**:

- Masters or good bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering with preferably at least 5 years relevant experience in an R&D and manufacturing environment, focusing on product development.
- ** Good knowledge of manufacturing technologies of metal and plastic materials**:

- Solid machining, CNC milling, and CNC lathe
- Extrusion/ forging
- Plastic injection moulding
- Pressure die-casting/investment casting/Gravity casting
- Stamping
- Rapid prototyping
- Surface treatment, Spray painting, and Anodizing
- ** Good knowledge of Mechanical CAD, 3D modelling**
- Working knowledge of mechanical CAD, and 3D modeling (preferably Creo or Pro/Engineer)
- Experience in assembly
- Geometric tolerancing (GD&T) and tolerance stack-up calculation are essential.
- Simulation and stress analysis
- ** Good understanding of**
- Optical system design
- Precision mechanisms
- project management skills are advantageous
- Value Engineering Value Analysis (VAVE)
- Capable in carry out design reviews for peers and providing counter proposals for improvement.
- Prior working exposure to Design, Process, Sourcing and Quality Functions
- Some Knowledge of FMEA and other Total Quality Management (TQM) tools - ie Kaizen
- Some hands-on experience with data-management systems - i.e. PLM system
- Systematic in problem-solving approach and creative thinker.
- Language proficiency in English
- Comply and adhere to the regulatory and company’s EHS requirements.
