Expert, Office of Safety and Security

**Duties**:
The Expert, Office of Safety and Security performs the following major duties:

- **Training Material Development**:

- Develop web-based, conference-based, and in-person training materials for Sexual Assault Risk Reduction and Response (SARRR) annual staff training, SARRR Onboarding training, Designated Staff quarterly meeting materials, and emerging training requirements per the SARRR Training Team.
- As needed, assist in developing or updating global and country-specific safety and security training for Volunteers that addresses, among other things: transportation safety, site entry, emergency action planning, incident reporting and response procedures, cultural adaptation, identity, language and local legal issues.
- Update My Safety Guide, facilitation guides, presentation slide decks, and other training materials to reflect the new curriculum.
- Support the agency shift to Sexual Violence Prevention Framework per Sexual Assault Advisory Council (SAAC) recommendations including but not limited to reviewing and integrating revisions for Pre Service Training (PST) materials.
- **Compliance**:

- Assist with SAAC related directives from leadership related to training of Volunteers, staff, and stakeholders (community members, etc.).
- Attend assigned SARRR meetings, per manager guidance, and report updates to other implementing offices.
- **Curriculum Planning**:

- Work in conjunction with the OSS Training Administrator to develop standardized prevention based Pre Service Training (PST) Global Core curriculum per Sexual Assault Advisory Council (SAAC) recommendations, emphasizing unwanted attention, violence prevention, and bystander intervention.
- Develop safety and security training and curricula for SSMs, PCSSOs, overseas staff, HQ staff, and agency stakeholders that incorporates new safety and security initiatives and promising practices, including but not limited to: sexual assault risk-reduction, prevention strategies, reporting and response procedures, medical treatment options, legal options and victim rights.
- **Opportunities and Challenges**:

- A successful Training Expert gathers feedback from key stakeholders and identifies a way forward that both supports the Agency's mission and is feasible within the current constraints of staffing, funding, and timing of other strategic efforts.
- The Sexual Assault Risk Reduction and Response (SARRR) Program has 5 implementing offices which can lead to managing conflicting priorities, in collaboration with the unit Manager and the OSS Training administrator, as part of this position.
- With a small office in a small and agile Federal agency, you have an opportunity to learn quite a wide range of skills. This position allows for the opportunity to learn about OSS, SARRR and the agency as a whole. A willing person, has many opportunities to engage in cross unit collaborations.

The job requires attention to detail as all related standard operating procedures, training facilitation guides, presentation slide decks, handouts, and training resources must be updated to reflect any and all changes.

- The work arrangement and salary of this position will be negotiated upon selection. (i.e., telework, remote, and or location).
- Applicants must successfully complete a background security investigation with favorable adjudication. Failure to successfully meet this requirement will be grounds for employment termination.
- All Federal employees are required to have federal salary payments made by direct deposit to a financial institution of their choosing.
- This is not a bargaining unit position.
- This position requires a public trust background investigation.
