**Job Description**:
As a central kitchen cook, you will be responsible for preparing a variety of dishes in large quantities to be distributed to multiple locations. Your primary duty will be to ensure that all food items are prepared according to recipes, quality standards, and health and safety regulations. You will work closely with the kitchen manager and other staff members to maintain a smooth workflow and ensure timely delivery of food products. Attention to detail, efficiency, and teamwork are crucial in this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook large batches of food items according to established recipes and portion sizes.
- Ensure food quality by inspecting ingredients for freshness and following proper cooking techniques.
- Adhere to food safety and sanitation guidelines, including proper handling, storage, and temperature control of food products.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the central kitchen facility, including workstations, equipment, and utensils.
- Assist in inventory management by accurately recording stock levels, rotating ingredients, and notifying management of any shortages or discrepancies.
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to plan and coordinate production schedules to meet delivery deadlines.
- Monitor cooking times and temperatures to ensure food safety and optimal flavor.
- Follow proper food handling procedures to minimize waste and control costs.
- Assist in the development of new recipes and menu items as needed.
- Support other kitchen operations, such as dishwashing, food prep, and equipment maintenance, as required.
**Requirements**:
- Proven experience as a cook or food preparation worker, preferably in a high-volume kitchen environment.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and proper food handling procedures.
- Ability to follow recipes accurately and consistently produce high-quality dishes.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift heavy objects.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Culinary degree or certification from a reputable culinary institution is a plus, but not required.
- Familiarity with industrial kitchen equipment and utensils.
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
