Senior Supervising Producer

**Job Description**:
The Wall Street Journal is seeking a Senior Supervising Producer in Singapore to oversee and lead the production of news and feature videos as part of its international video team in the APAC region.

Excellent editorial, high-quality production experience and team-management skills are also key for this position. While you will manage a team spread out across Singapore and Hong Kong, this is a hands-on role leading the Journal’s news video coverage during the U.S. overnight hours. You will collaborate daily with our New York and London video teams.

The position will be based in our Singapore office and reports to the London-based executive producer of international.

You will:

- Work with the executive producer, overseas video managers and a team of video journalists to produce news, analysis and feature videos that informs WSJ’s subscriber base and appeals to broader audiences.
- Ensure the regular production of video series out of Asia.
- Pitch and develop original ideas for timely features and series based on WSJ’s core areas of coverage on a daily basis.
- Work closely with video journalists to hone story angles, strengthen scripts and ensure videos maintain the highest production value.
- Be expected to work late hours and on weekends as news and time zone considerations may warrant.
- Provide clear and productive notes on scripts and videos in edit.
- Autonomously monitor feeds to deliver breaking news coverage as necessary.
- Collaborate closely with key newsroom editors to develop best-in-class video journalism.
- Coach beat reporters and news editors to appear on camera or in voiceovers.
- Mentor staff and provide opportunities for feedback and growth.
- Ensure that all WSJ journalistic and legal standards are followed at all times.
- Ensure the equipment and dedicated office space in your region are efficiently managed.
- Complete additional duties as assigned.

You have:

- At least eight years of experience working in a daily video news environment, including time spent managing journalists and small teams
- Professional experience writing and reviewing headlines, captions and scripts for news stories under tight time constraints.
- Experience producing compelling business, markets and tech videos on deadline.
- Clear communication skills with exceptional written and collaboration skills.
- A deep understanding of current events, global politics and economics, as well as a nose for news.
- Knowledge of the APAC region and the U.S.’s evolving economic and political agenda there.
- A track record of translating complex business and economics stories into reporting that informs WSJ’s core subscriber base and attracts broader audiences.
- A grasp of the latest trends in digital journalism and a good knowledge of the global video journalism landscape.
- A specific understanding of content and audience differentiation on various platforms including O&O and YouTube.
