MiRXES Lab is the R&D arm of MiRXES, comprising Data Science, Clinical Development, Product Development and Assay Development. The Assay Development group uses insights from our own database of clinical markers as well as published literature to develop tools to sensitively and specifically measure analytes of interest. We develop new technologies to improve the performance of existing approaches.

**Job Summary**:
The Assay Development Research Officer will assist Scientists in carrying out experimental work, as well as have the opportunity to lead projects of their own. The officer will also investigate, optimize and implement relevant technologies from either published or commercial sources to improve the performance of current tools. In the course of work, the officer may create new intellectual property in the form of technology disclosures, patents, or publications.

The Assay Development Research Officer will report to Director, Assay Development, or an Assay Development Scientist.

**Roles and Responsibilities**:

- Hands-on development and optimization of clinical diagnostic Tests based on molecular technology e.g. RT-PCR, isothermal amplification, NGS (~80-90% wet lab time)
Explore new technologies to meet/exceed current clinical requirements on diagnostics tests
- Design and execute experiments independently
- Troubleshoot, analyse, summarize and communicate data
- accurately and succinctly
- Keep a detailed record of experiments
- Actively provide scientific input in both multifunctional and R&D team meetings
- Work closely with other colleagues on projects to provide scientific inputs related to company products or research
- Participate in experimental design, troubleshooting and new technology development.
**Desired Skills and Competencies**:

- Degree/ Master’s in biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, or related field, or a Diploma with strong evidence of skill set required in assay development
- At least 2 years of relevant experience in research and/or development with at least 1 year specifically in molecular biology preferred
- Fresh graduates with relevant laboratory experience in the internship or coursework are welcome to apply**
- A hands-on approach and welcome challenges.
**Nice to Haves**:

- Experience in research/development in oncology or infectious disease-related areas
- Experience with NGS library preparation and DNA methylation analysis
- Fluency in other molecular detection methodologies
- Experience in, and preferably understanding of, assay optimization
- Critical thinking and reasoning skills
