Singapore Global Counsel Full time

The role will be based in GC's Singapore office but travel will be required when necessary.

**Role and responsibilities**
- Monitor and analyse macroeconomic, political and policy developments in China and across major South and Southeast Asian markets and draft regular update notes.
- Support strategic planning exercises (e.g., scenario development, horizon scanning) for clients considering the impact of a wide range of economic and geopolitical events on business continuity and supply chains.
- Advise global investors and corporates with macro political and economic due diligence both pre
- and post-investment.
- Support clients with their engagement strategies, including through topical briefing packs and stakeholder mapping.
- Provide day-to-day contact for clients, building positive client relationships and delivering actions and projects to meet clients' needs and deadlines.
- Support the growth of the practice by identifying companies and investors for business development campaigns, and develop new policy insights and analysis relevant to these entities.
- Act as an active ambassador for Global Counsel at relevant industry and policy events, and invest in developing the skills, expertise and reputation of yourself and others.

**Skills and profile**
- Degree in economics, international relations, political economy or other related fields.
- 4-6 years’ experience working on economic affairs for a consulting firm, think tank, financial institution, government, or international/regional organisation.
- Strong knowledge of global and Chinese politics and economic affairs.
- Commercial acumen and the ability to make inferences and draw conclusions about how politics and policy affect businesses and investors.
- Rigorous and entrepreneurial research skills, including the use of datasets for visual presentation.
- A motivated self-starter who works well independently and as part of a team.
- Self-awareness and a strong commitment to professional and personal development.
- Previous work experience with corporates, government bodies and investors active in China is preferred.
