**About the role**:
If you’re constantly cringing at “there” and “they’re” being used interchangeably, you just might have the makings of a Sub-Editor. Bonus points if you’ve got a passion for storytelling in all formats — editorial, video and graphics — and an uncanny skill where no typo can escape your clutches. Have a couple of years of editorial and managerial experience under your belt? Even better.

Duties will include spearheading content creation for multiple brands under The Smart Local media group, managing client campaigns, and mentoring a team of junior writers and full-timers under your care. And hey, we’ve got two loving office cats just in case you weren’t sure about sealing the deal.

**What will you do**:

- To gatekeep content before it is published. Ensuring all content by your team meet the expected standard and their writing is free from any mistakes.
- This includes gatekeeping content ideas and gatekeeping videos from our regional teams, to QC the video captions of content produced.
- To manage the team in your region, which includes managing, motivating and caring for their well-being. You are also expected to provide guidance/training to writers under your supervision by preparing any necessary training/guidelines needed.
- Ensuring the team’s weekly KPI is met by checking-in on writers, assigning deadlines, planning the content calendar, conducting pitching and so on.
- To occasionally write, conduct miscellaneous tasks from interviews to Facebook postings to working with clients.
- To help with SEO and content strategy using existing SEO knowledge.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in editing
- Minimum 1 year of experience in managing a team of writers
- Strong command of the English language
- Meticulous and versatile
- Able to multi-task and tackle challenges
- Knowledge in SEO is a bonus
