
Instrumentation Technicians

**Responsiblities**:
- Conduct installation checks, loop testing, and functional testing of instrumentation systems.
- Perform instrument calibration and configuration according to project specifications and datasheets.
- Support commissioning engineers in verifying instrument performance and integration with control systems (e.g., PLC, DCS).
- Troubleshoot and resolve instrumentation faults or discrepancies identified during pre-commissioning or commissioning.
- Maintain accurate records of all testing and calibration activities, including test reports and checklists.
- Ensure all instrumentation work is executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project and HSE standards.Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and control teams to facilitate seamless system handover.
**Requirements**:
**Education**:
- NITEC, Diploma, or equivalent qualification in Instrumentation, Electronics, or Electrical Engineering.
**Experience**:
- 5 to 10 years of relevant hands-on experience in instrumentation installation, calibration, and commissioning.
- Preferably in oil & gas, marine, shipyard, or heavy industrial projects.
**Certifications**:
- Valid Shipyard Safety Instruction Course (SSIC) certification.
- Valid medical clearance (e.g. OGUK, or as required by project scope).
- Other yard-specific or client-required certifications relevant to instrumentation works.
**Skills & Knowledge**:
- Demonstrated knowledge of instrumentation devices, including transmitters, sensors, pressure gauges, control valves, analyzers, and PLC/DCS systems.
- Proficient in loop checking, signal testing, and calibration using relevant tools (e.g. HART communicator, multimeter, calibrator).
- Able to read and interpret instrument loop diagrams, P&IDs, cable schedules, and control system drawings.
- Familiar with commissioning procedures, function testing, and punch list coordination.
- Knowledge of Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) is an advantage.
