Role Summary

Lead the External Funds Management (EFM) team, the new hire is responsible for the overall management of external mandates/funds selection activities for the Group’s general account and ILP products. Reporting to the Group CIO, this role will consistently deliver alpha from external mandates/funds investments in Equity and Fixed Income, with a focus on risk control as per agreed risk budget/ capital constraints of each portfolio.

Job Responsibilities:

- Leadership role in building up the capabilities for fund management screening, selection and on-going investment due diligence
- Actively contribute to the firm’s thought leadership on asset allocation and portfolio construction. Explore, identify, and implement new investment strategies and asset classes
- Working with External managers and lead internal analysts to formulate and develop Prudential house view on financial market and assets outlook.
- Management of the EFM team, including coaching and development of junior team members.
- Collaborate closely with other members of the Group CIO team on portfolio management, ALM and operational issues.

Job Requirements:

- Degree qualified with a minimum of 15 years relevant fund selection experience.
- Knowledgeable and experienced in analysing a broad range of asset classes/strategies across different markets.
- Proven track record in choosing strong fund managers.
- Good team player, can work well with colleagues across different levels and departments. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are expected as is the ability to operate at a high level in a non-political manner.
- Good working knowledge of Morningstar Direct, Lipper Investment Management, Bloomberg.
