SBDC Is expandingJob Description & RequirementsThis position works with children that have physical, sensory, intellectual and multiple disabilities. You will learn to acquire therapy training skills through lesson observation & purposeful examination of teachers' teaching practices.Specific Responsibilities
- Conduct/ Assist one to one therapy sessions
- Assist the main class therapists and when ready, the trainee will conduct the class, provide group and individual therapy, under supervision of Senior Therapists/ Case Managers.Individual to be involved in: 1. Employ intervention strategies to improve child’s development2. Prepares and maintains student data and other records3. Administers various forms of assessment and evaluates progress of each student4. Collaborates with the families of young children with learning disabilities.5. Conduct lesson plans and create learning aidsCompetencies that the Trainee will learn during Training-Learn various learning disabilities in the functioning of the brain that affect a child's behaviour, memory or ability to learn e.g. mental retardation, dyslexia, ADHD, GDD, learning deficits and autism.Learn special educational strategies and techniques during lessons to improve the development of sensory and perceptual-motor skills, language, cognition, and memory.Job Requirements
- Degree in Psychology, Special Education, Early Childhood, Linguistics, and/or related fields. Experience working with children will be an advantage
- Ability to engage effectively and work well with children
- Good communication and interpersonal skills with clients
- 3 years contractual basis
