The Emerging Systems Division focuses research and development on a broad spectrum of capabilities that are critical to the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) defence systems. These include antenna design and electromagnetics, as well as next-wave technologies in the areas of lasers and advanced materials.

You will be part of the team in the development of laser technologies. The key to development is the understanding of the effects of laser on materials.

Laser Material Engineer

In this role, you will:

- Research into the effects of laser on various types of materials. Detailed research shall encompass understanding into changes in thermal and material properties as well as development of physics-based models to simulate the effects
- Develop physics-based models to simulate the effects. These models should be able to be integrated into COTS modelling and simulation tools to enhance its fidelity for a more comprehensive analysis
- Design and conduct laser material interaction experiments
- Analyse experiments data to validate the analysis developed

**Requirements**:

- Master’s / Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering / Mechanics & Processing of Materials / Engineering Physics
- Prior experience in areas related to Laser Development and/or Material Processing is preferred
- Knowledge in using modelling and simulation tools e.g. MATLAB, SIMULINK, COMSOL, etc, and programming using PYTHON, C or C++ will be advantages
- The drive for deep research to deepen technical depth as well as willingness to learn new areas from fellow peers to expand technical breadth
