Finance and Governance Manager

The Finance and Governance Manager at LOVE, NILS, leads work programs that significantly contribute to the effective and efficient operation of LOVE, NILS including HR, finance, risk, legal and compliance functions, and the completion of statutory documents such as the annual report, annual accounts and others required by government regulatory authorities. The role reports to the CEO and General Manager.

Key Responsibilities

Governance

1.Provide advice to the Board for board member recruitment and succession processes, roles and responsibilities, conflicts of interest, delegations and other matters as require.

2.Coordinate secretariat support to the Board and its committees in consultation with the Company Secretary.

3.Ensure lodgments due into Charity portal, NCSS and other platforms completed on a timely manner.

4.Liaise with corporate secretary.

5.Improve governance policies and processes in accordance with the Code of Governance and the requirement of Charity Transparency Award.

Operations

1.Contribute to the development of the organization’s strategic, operational, and budget plans.

2.Human Resources

a. Direct the operations of the HR team

b. Manage the organization’s employment contracts.

c. Provide advice on staff remuneration.

d. Process monthly payroll.

e. Recruitment tasks including posting job descriptions to relevant sites, interviewing applicants, and onboarding new staff.

f. Maintain and manage adherence to health and safety policies and procedures and ensure compliance and adherence to all relevant legislation.

Finance

1.Direct the operations of the finance team: Including recording of all donations, issuing tax receipts, liaising closely with fundraising department for donation/grant tracking, financial systems responsibility and CRM processes and XERO.

2.Oversee the development and management of the organization's financial management and reporting framework.

3.Prepare the annual budget in consultation with other departmental heads. As part of the Executive Leadership team, contribute to the development of the organization’s operational plans and budgets.

4.Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial and management accounts for provision to the Executive Director and the Board

5.Prepare documents for annual auditors.

6.Working closely with the Fundraising and Program directors to produce required reports.

Legal, Risk and Compliance

1.Exercise day-to-day responsibility for the operational management of the company’s statutory functions and responsibilities.

2.Manage the organization’s legal contracts with subcontractors in liaison with the organization’s solicitors and advisors.

3.Establish and maintain the organization’s risk management framework and risk registers.

4.Ensure privacy and data protection policies and processes are established and implemented.

Professional Qualifications

Essential
- A bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance
- Extensive governance, administrative, accounting and finance management skills, hands-on budget management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, IPC experience, decision-making and reporting.
- Strong organizational abilities including planning, delegating, program development and task facilitation.
- Eight or more years senior non-profit management experience
- Others: meticulous attention to detail, self-motivated, team player, possesses excellent communication, ability to work independently, decision making and leadership skills.

Highly Desirable
- Membership of a professional accounting, management, or governance organization
- Good knowledge of the charities and not-for-profit sector including relevant legislation and codes of practice
- Strong knowledge of Xero accounting software
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Familiarity with IT systems including accounting, document management systems (DMS) and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) databases
