Postgre Database Consultant

**Position Overview**

**Responsibilities**
- Develop and implement database architecture solutions that meet business requirements and ensure high availability, scalability, and performance.
- Perform routine database maintenance tasks, including backups, recovery, monitoring, and tuning to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
- Implement and manage database security measures to protect sensitive data and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Analyze and optimize database performance, including query tuning, indexing, and resource management.
- Plan and execute database migrations and upgrades, ensuring mínimal downtime and data integrity.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, processes, and procedures
- Perform regular BAU operations, including monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimizing.
- Ensure high availability and scalability of postgre database.
- Create and maintain documentation for postgre environments and processes.
- Coordinate with principle vendor for the incidents and support.
- Well verse with ITSM tools and processes.
- Drives continuous improvement and value adds.
- Establish relationships with customer / business units with technical knowledge and solutions.
- Drive end-to-end implementation including setup, configuration, scaling, monitoring, and governance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and deliver solutions.
- Integrate observability and monitoring tools.

**Experience**
- Total 12+ years of experience in IT infrastructure management services
- Total 8+ years of relevant experience in postgre database architecture, including setup, installation, and maintenance.
- Proficiency in PostgreSQL database management and administration.
- Strong knowledge of SQL and PL/pgSQL.
- Experience with database design, performance tuning, and optimization.
- Familiarity with database security best practices.
- Experience with database migration and upgrade processes.
- Knowledge of backup and recovery techniques.
- Strong experience with postgre database, and other databases.
- Strong background in Linux system administration.
- Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Hands-on experience with ITSM tools and processes.
- Experience in working in infra projects with BFSI customers.
- Experience of global delivery with offshore/ onsite model.
- Experience working in agile and DevOps-driven environments.
- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure and containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.

- Good to have experience in migration of RDBMS from Oracle, MySQL to EDB Postgres and knowledge on PEM (Postgres Enterprise Manager).
- DB connection polling
- Strong knowledge of SQL and PL/pgSQL.
- Deep knowledge of PostgreSQL database architecture, internals, and features.
- Hands-on experience with tools like pgAdmin, pgBouncer, and PostGIS.
- Proficiency in SQL and PL/pgSQL programming.
- Familiarity with NoSQL and cloud-based databases (e.g., Amazon RDS, Azure Database for PostgreSQL) is a plus.
- Strong skills in Bash, Python, or similar scripting languages.
