**JOB DESCRIPTION (Cardiac Physiologist - Echo)**

We are looking for a Cardiac Physiologist who can deliver a professional and efficient echocardiography service, working with your colleagues in our dynamic and fast-paced sites. As an integral part of our clinical team, your skills as a Cardiac Physiologist/Cardiac Sonographer help us to deliver on our vision to make healthcare better for our patients. You will deliver a high-quality Echocardiography service which is consistently safe and effective, every day across NHS (National Health Service) and private patient pathways.

**Clinical**
- Perform and report adult trans-thoracic echocardiograms in line with the British Society of Echocardiography minimum data set and company’s reporting guidelines
- Demonstrate awareness of current developments in clinical practice and participate in training sessions including expansion of clinical skills as appropriate
- Write clinical reports and archive study images in accordance with contractual requirements and local SOPs
- Escalate any delays in reporting to Line Manager and Clinical Lead immediately
- Comply with the ‘local’ Health and Safety site rules (including for emergency procedures) and key corporate policies including information governance
- Ensure a duty of care to patient confidentiality and safety is always maintained, that the clinical safety of patients is never compromised and that patients are fully aware of all clinical / reporting processes
- Liaise with GPs/relevant hospital departments for urgent clinical referrals

**Patient Care & Service Delivery**
- Set up clinic room upon arrival at site ensuring safe positioning of equipment and escalate any concerns about clinic rooms to Line Manager on the day.
- Manage a safe, effective, caring and well led environment responsive to our patients and customer requirements ensuring that support is made available to patients such as but not limited to:

- Translation services
- Chaperone
- Privacy & dignity
- Patient Information Leaflet
- Meet and greet patients at reception at the patient’s appointment time, offering a friendly and warm greeting stating your name and position; ensuring any arrangements for additional support have been provided.
- Provide clear explanation of the procedure to the patient and gain verbal consent.
- Provide information on the company’s process for providing feedback following appointment.
- Ensure privacy and dignity of patient at all times making use of curtained area and gowns/couch roll.
- Liaise with host site reception and other colleagues ensuring clear patient checking in process and effective management of the clinic session.

**Governance**
- Participate in the investigation of incidents and complaints relating to Echocardiography services and, where required, the wider organisation.
- Ensure that all incidents and near misses are logged on Sentinel for escalation and that any immediate actions required are brought to the attention of Line Manager and Clinical Leads.
- Raise all complaints with Line Manager on the day they arise and make available the ‘How to Complain’ leaflet to patients when required.
- Attend national and international conferences in line with departmental CPD Programme, including bi-annual training days.
- Support the Registered Manager in delivery of services that meet the Care Quality Commission fundamental standards for health care.
- Maintain up to date knowledge on corporate and local SOPs.
- Participate in audits and site checks as requested by Management such as but not limited to:

- Quarterly Health & Safety Risk Assessment
- Healthcare Quality Audit
- Hand Hygiene Audit
- Site Evaluation
- Ensure all mandatory training courses are completed within required timeframes.

**Communication**
- Communicate effectively to patients, relatives, key stakeholders and colleagues ensuring messaging is clear, concise and adapted to the target audience
