Blasting Supervisor

Job description:
1.Refers to blueprints, work orders or oral instruction for specifications of work to be done.
2.Confers with Yard Superintendent, General Manager, Project Manager, engineering, and other support personnel to analyze scheduling, production, and quality control of items to be blasted or painted.
3.Inspects surface of area to be blasted or painted to determine worker assignments.
4.Instructs workers accordingly.
5.Examines surfaces subsequent to blasting and painting to verify adherence to specified standards.
6.Is also responsible for designating work to roustabouts as well as blaster/painters.
7.Responsible for the adherence to Safety Rules and Regulations by his or her workers, and to direct workers to the proper methods of performing work in a safe and responsible manner.
8.Responsible for the enforcement of all such company rules, policies, and procedures.
9.May confer with painting inspector to maintain specified standards and quality.
10.May assist workers with set up of equipment or to troubleshoot equipment if necessary.
11.May train workers who are upgrading in position, in the operation of blasting and painting equipment, and to the proper techniques or procedures to be used when performing work.
12.Performs other incidental tasks such as recording time worked by employees on each individual job, report manhours worked to the proper dept., requisition materials and supplies, operate cranes and other lifting equipment, and operate company vehicles. Also responsible for metering oxygen or gases that may be present in tanks or other confined spaces.
