**Your future team**
As part of the SAP Labs Singapore, the Artificial Intelligence team has experienced professionals taking on challenges posed by the SAP customers. Based in Singapore, you will have the opportunity to work on the SAP Document AI service, an intelligent document processing solution serving thousands of customers worldwide. You will address real-world challenges in training deep learning models, prompt engineering and finetuning of LLMs, model deployment and monitoring. As part of the global product engineering team, you will participate in rich and engaging conversations with experts around the globe.

**Purpose and objectives**
As an Associate AI Scientist you will work together with a team of dedicated experts including AI scientists, data engineers, dev-ops engineers, and architects with a single goal of building the best-in-class AI products. You will work against fixed timelines and your success will be measured by the ability to deliver solutions matching the performance of top-notch artificial intelligence systems.

**What you'll do**
- Design, develop, and validate machine learning models for document information extraction, optical character recognition and layout analysis.
- Build and maintain scalable training pipelines for machine learning workflows focused on document processing.
- Collaborate with data engineers on the creation of high-quality annotated datasets, including defining annotation schemas and guiding synthetic data strategies.
- Experiment with state-of-the-art NLP and computer vision techniques for document understanding, contributing to research projects and translating research into product features
- Optimize models for accuracy, efficiency, and scalability across cloud-based production environments.
- Work closely with engineering teams teams to ensure seamless model deployment and monitoring.

**What you bring**

**Required**
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related technical field.
- Solid understanding of machine learning fundamentals and MLOps
- Practical experience with training deep learning models, prompt engineering and LLM finetuning.
- Proficiency in at least two programming languages, preferably Python and Java.
- Strong problem-solving mindset and motivation to deliver customer value.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

**Optional**
- Hands-on scripting experience (e.g., bash).
- Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- Operational familiarity with Linux systems (Red Hat, Ubuntu, etc.).
- Skills in modern web development (JavaScript, HTML5, CSS)
- Experience with cloud platforms such as SAP BTP, AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams.
