Civil Structural Engineer

**The Role**:
**What’s the role?**
You will provide civil engineering support and inspection recommendations to Maintenance and Project Engineers for safe, reliable, and efficient operations of all Bukom facilities with special focus on the Marine and Coastal assets - wharfs, shore protection, etc.

You will also work closely with asset owners in ensuring assets are maintained in a fit-for-purpose manner using best practices to deliver asset integrity at the optimal costs that would support the site’s business objectives.

More specifically:

- Provide day-to-day specialist civil engineering support to the Refinery Production Units with particular focus on Coastal and Marine Assets with respect to civil project & maintenance works i.e., general civil and structural engineering, refractory, insulation, coating painting, and scaffolding. If necessary As and when required, will be the focal point to enlist and co-ordinate the use of consultants, contractors, and other specialists.
- Develop and implement a civil inspection program that ensures structural integrity and reliability of civil assets in Bukom with particular focus on Marine and Coastal structures / infrastructure.
- Manage contractors who conduct routine inspections on civil structures and facilities on site.
- Champion for structural integrity to ensure Best-In-Class performance of the site.
- Provide civil engineering inputs for new Capital Projects, Revamps and other plant changes.
- Make proactive contribution to the improvement of the maintenance and plant reliability to Production Unit in ensuring the technical integrity of the assets and the achievement of Best-in-Class levels of maintained availability and facility utilization.
- Provide Expert advice on Civil Engineering matters with particular focus on Civil Infrastructure, Marine and Coastal Engineering.
- Participate in the Root Cause Analysis of major civil engineering problems.
- Ensure that all assets comply with all statutory obligations, Engineering Codes of Practices, Shell Design and Engineering Practice and Bukom Engineering Practice standards.
- Participate in the development and updating of civil engineering policies and guidelines.- Assist in the evaluation of civil contractors and civil consultants, and to provide inputs into the contracting strategy for civil maintenance contracts.

HSSE Responsibilities:

- Ensure all assets comply with relevant HSSE and Shell DEP standards.
- Ensure day-to-day civil engineering activities such as general civil, structural, refractory, insulation, coating painting and scaffolding comply with relevant HSSE and Shell group requirements.
- Comply with Life Saving Rules and report / Intervene any unsafe behavior or unsafe operating condition observed while working in the plant.
- Participate in project HSSE reviews as and when necessary.
- Ensure that all staff and contractors under his charge adhere to Statutory Regulations, Bukom HSSE rules and procedures.
- Implement assigned controls identified in the HSSE-MS, such as those in the Refinery Bowties, Hazard Sheets and HRAs.

**What we need from you**

To succeed in this role, you will have:

- Minimum 8 years relevant working experience as a Civil Structural Engineer in design and construction. in Discipline Engineering in Civil Discipline in Experience of having worked in an oil refinery or petrochemical plant environment, of which a minimum 5 years work should be of working experience as a Discipline Engineer in Brownfield Project Environment as well as Design & Construction of **Marine structures** would be an advantage.
- Experience in the design of **marine structures** such as wharfs, berthing and mooring systems, familiar with MLA's, etc.
- Experience working with Engineering Contractors during FEED and Detail Design phase.
- Experience as a discipline engineer in SELECT phase of projects.- Experience on management of technical documentation and systems.
- Knowledge in archiving of technical drawings/documents, design engineering function, practices & procedures.
- Able to provide good engineering solutions to projects.
- Experience leading to TA3 in Civil Engineering
