Underwriting Assistant

- We have a great opportunity for an Underwriting Assistant to join our Standard Asia Underwriting team in Singapore, focusing on our Coastal & Inland class business.
- What will you be doing?- Responsible together with the underwriters for the underwriting and renewal of all accounts within the division under the overall direction of the seniors.
- To report on all matters to the division underwriters and/or division director and/or director of underwriting as appropriate and to refer acceptance of new members to the director of underwriting.
- Responsible together with the division underwriters for the prompt and accurate production and processing of entry documentation and debiting by the division support team.
- Responsible together with the division underwriters to the director of underwriting for the division's renewal budget and reports.
- Responsible together with the division underwriters for entering all quotations on the system.
- Responsible together with the division underwriters for placing reinsurance for division members in collaboration with the reinsurance department.
- Responsible together with the division underwriters for the analysis of underwriting trends of the division members.
- Responsible together with the division underwriters for identifying and developing new business for the division.
- To identify support team pressure points and to arrange workloads accordingly.
- To supervise the maintenance of the team work list and to monitor completion of tasks.
- To supervise the renewal tracking log and to monitor the completion of tasks.
- To deal with enquiries from members, brokers and third parties and to identify and manage service related issues.
- To provide regular progress reports to the director/ division underwriters as required.
- To assist with sanctions match checking and clearance.

**Job Requirement**
- Essential skills, qualifications and experience:
- Degree qualification preferred
- A preference for the individual to have experience in insurance, either in a broking or underwriting role
- Proven track record of working in a direct client facing environment

Desirable Skills/Qualifications/Experience:
- Previous P&I Club experience would be desirable.

Given the nature of the role, you must also:
- Be focused on customer service at all times
- Have excellent communication skills, including written English, and be prepared to undertake marketing
- Have high level analytical and report writing skills with a strong attention to detail
- Be self-motivated, proactive and able to work as part of a small professional team.
- Have the ability to deal with high volumes of work effectively and efficiently
