You lead a team to manage and oversee the development of Psychological Defence capabilities and provide comprehensive psychology support along a peace to war continuum. On this, you plan and employ qualitative and quantitative methods to deliver an evidence-based approach for diagnosing issues and providing professional advice, expertise, and specialist skills to enhance individual, team, and unit psychological readiness as well as organisational effectiveness. In addition, you provide leadership on best practices in job/appointment assessment and build expertise in knowledge areas and techniques (e.g., psychological interviewing and individual profiling), plan, design, and implement all pre, post, and during operations assessment systems to identify potential areas for development, and provide immediate crisis management in the event of critical incidents.

You must have a tertiary qualification, preferably a Masters, in Psychology, with at least 6 years' relevant experience. You should possess excellent communication skills, both oral and written, to liaise, consult, and negotiate with commanders, as well as strong interpersonal skills to establish partnerships and collaborations with internal and external agencies. In addition, independent thought, maturity, and innovation are essential to champion and grow the practice of psychology within the command. You may be required to periodically travel overseas for work.
