**The Organisation**
Established in 1955, the Singapore Association for the Deaf (SADeaf) has been serving the Deaf and Hard-of-hearing community for close to seven decades. We believe everyone should be given equal opportunities to enjoy a fulfilling life. Although we have kept the organisation small, it is our mission to provide support and guidance for the deaf, hard of hearing, and deaf-blind community in Singapore.
We are a team of passionate people providing a series of services to support and aid the Deaf community:
- Casework & Counselling_
The Community Services (CS) department is where deaf and hard-of-hearing clients and their families can turn to for assistance with a diverse range of services, from personal development, family issues, coping skills, needs assessment and managing expectations.
- Financial Aid & Employment Support_
- Learning Support & Speech Therapy_
We also provide one-to-one intervention for students with hearing loss who are currently attending mainstream schools ranging from pre-school to tertiary level, as well as speech therapy to enhance students' listening, articulation and language comprehension skills.
- Hearing Test & Equipment Aids_
Staffed by a qualified audiologist, SADeaf’s Hearing Care Centre (HCC) provides a full spectrum of hearing care-related services, consultation and tests and offers ear moulds and accessories at nominal rates.
- Interpretation & Notetaking_
We also have a team of interpreters with extensive interpreting experience and note-takers to support Hearing Loss (HL) students in their pursuit of education and corporate organisation in the engagement of HL parties.
- Sign Language Courses_
We offer a range of sign language courses and customised awareness workshops/programmes to support the general communities. We also cater to the needs of frontline professionals such as medical staff, police, emergency, and social workers.
**The Person**
Having worked in the social service sector, you have the knowledge and a keen passion for work involving the Deaf community. You are a people person with high emotional quotient who can engage diverse stakeholders and the complex issues that comes with it. You should possess the ability and knowledge of Singapore Sign Language (SgSL) to aid you in the management of and communication with deaf employees as well as beneficiaries of SADeaf services. Putting on the strategic thinking hat, you play a critical role in assisting the Executive Director and work with the EXCO in achieving the Vision and Mission of Association. Bringing along your management experience and skills, you have a knack for details and can embed yourself deeply in the daily operations of the Association to obtain insights needed for strategic improvement.
**The Job**
A meaningful yet demanding role, you will be expected to:
1) Assist the Executive Director in the formulation of policies and administration of the SADeaf;
2) Be part of the core team to support in the development and delivery of the Association’s vision and mission, and strategic plans within available budgets and funding;
3) Play a critical role in ensuring quality services and programmes are delivered among staff, volunteers, clients and members of the SADeaf;
4) Be a senior management of the Association and play a crucial role in ensuring all services are delivered in accordance with best practices and in compliance with the Code of Governance;
5) Be constantly looking for improvements and will helm and take charge of projects to enhance and deliver SADeaf performance.
**Roles & Responsibilities**:
**1.** **Administrative Duties**
1.1 To assist the Executive Director in the formulation of policies and administration of the SADeaf.
1.2 To adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for internal controls.
1.3 To supervise the maintenance of facilities within the SADeaf premises.
1.4 To co-ordinate and take charge of the AGM and the publication of the Annual Report.
1.5 To prepare the reports and background papers, and be the minutes recorder for Executive Council Meeting and other ad hoc meetings.
1.6 To formulate policies and administration of the Secretariat.
1.7 To oversee the management, documentation and liaison with the authorities on the Constitution, Trust Deed, Tenancy Agreement and other legal documents of the SADeaf.
**2. ** **Oversee the following Departments/Programmes Duties: Deaf Education Dept, Deaf Access Dept, Award Vetting Panel, Corporate Affairs Dept (Corporate Communications/Media)**
2.1 To ensure that quality services and programmes are delivered to clients and members of SADeaf; and review policies pertaining to the welfare of staff and volunteers, including manpower/staffing needs, training and supervision
2.2 To supervise and monitor that expenses are within budget.
2.3 To ensure that targets and funding of programmes are achieved.
2.4 To review and ensure the relevance of services and programmes for clients.
