**Project Title**:Metallic Lithium Recycling from Spent Lithium-ion Batteries via Selective Lithium-ion Conducting Membrane [RP 5/23 EAH]

**Project Introduction**: This project focuses on developing a method for recycling metallic lithium from spent lithium-ion batteries using a selective lithium-ion conducting membrane. The membrane selectively allows lithium ions to pass through while blocking other components of the battery, facilitating the separation and recovery of metallic lithium. This innovative approach aims to improve the sustainability of lithium-ion battery technology by enabling the efficient reuse of valuable lithium resources, reducing environmental impact, and promoting circular economy principles in battery recycling.

**Requirements**:

- MSc in materials science and engineering or related discipline.
- Strong expertise in the relevant field, familiar with development and property evaluation of membrane materials.
- Knowledge of synthesis, characterization, and property evaluation of membrane materials.
- Energetic and self-motivated.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills, able to work in a diverse, interdisciplinary research environment.
- Experience in scheduling and resource planning.
- Ability to coordinate work among multiple competitive tasks, manage projects, and complete tasks on time.
- Able to work independently and demonstrate strong initiative.
- Evidence of research output, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated scientific/industrial impact in the field of composite materials/materials/engineering.

**Responsibilities**:

- Execute development work related to the membrane and learn electrodialysis operation and analysis.
- Write technical reports and journal papers.
- Manage and achieve key performance indicators and objectives of the project.
- Ensure timely delivery of milestones according to plan/schedule, manage/control project risks, and take mitigating actions.
- Prepare/integrate regular reports (financial, technical) as required.
- Manage project documentation, knowledge/data collection, and reporting.
- Handle procurement, laboratory inventory and logístical issues.
- Develop new proposal based on the results of this project.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in all aspects of research work.
- Supervise undergraduate students involved in the project.
- Other duties as assigned by PI.
