**Job Summary**
Effectively interact with other groups within and outside of Equinix (Data Center Operations, Construction Engineering, Sales, E-Team, equipment vendors, consultants, etc.). to improve or maintain a high level of reliability, efficiency, and operating costs of our Data Center facilities.
**Responsibilities**
- Be responsible for new DC build projects mostly in APAC region
- Develop/improve policies, processes, and engineering standards to achieve consistency and maximize reliability among all Data Center facilities
- Provide technical design review and oversight during all phases of a data center build or expansion activity
- Lead design decision making in a manner that supports the reliability/availability objectives for IBX facilities
- Review commissioning and integrated systems testing plans for all IBX build and major CAPEX projects to ensure systems will function reliably within all operating scenarios
- Ensure all project closeout tasks are satisfactorily completed to ensure a clean turnover to local site operations
- Evaluate new cooling equipment industry offerings for suitability in a critical facilities environment. This may include a new manufacturer/model or a completely new cooling equipment pedigree type
- Develop and maintain design standards and specifications as required
- Facilitate and provide technical support for resolution of complex operating issues through use of disciplined root cause principles
- Provide technical support for all mechanical/HVAC system design upgrades or modifications
- Provide energy efficient solutions to optimize cooling systems
- Perform site MEP audits with a focus of identifying vulnerabilities within critical infrastructure
- Travel and other assignments as required.
**Qualifications**
- Expert level engineering/operations skills and experience with HVAC equipment and systems that operate within a critical facilities environment
- Working knowledge in all areas of data center infrastructure (critical power, generators, fuel systems, etc.) is preferred
- Ability to review complex cooling system designs and provide comments that will enhance overall system reliability, efficiency, and total cost of ownership
- Ability to review plant operating sequences and recommend corrections and improvements
- Strong teaming and assertiveness skills to properly socialize and “sell” the right decision even if not popular with all stakeholder groups. Proficient in troubleshooting complex problems and facilitating root cause analyses
- Solid working knowledge of industry standards, building codes and safety standards including ASHRAE, NFPA,, SMACNA, UBC, UPC, UMC, ASME
- Current with all industry trends in the critical facilities arena
- Ability to work cohesively across teams from other regions recognizing cultural differences
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills including technical report writing
- Proficient with Excel including ability to filter and manipulate large tables for detailed data analysis
- 7+ years’ experience
- Bachelors
