Singapore A*STAR Agency for Science, Technology and Research Full time

A*STAR Infectious Diseases Labs (A*STAR ID Labs) is seeking for a Research Fellow to join us in our mission to be a leading centre of infectious diseases research. A*STAR ID Labs aims to develop a cohesive A*STAR response to drive and deliver translational infectious diseases research to better health and economic outcomes.

This position is a joint appointment between Labs led by Dr Stefan Oehlers and Dr Guillaume Carissimo. The project is in the applied field of aquaculture infection characterisation and vaccine development. As this project has an applied focus, the KPIs are focused on the generation of intellectual property and product development rather than academic publications. The project will involve working across disciplines alongside encapsulation and aquaculture scientists.

Develop zebrafish models of aquaculture pathogens
Design and deploy vaccines against aquaculture pathogens
Document research work and maintain confidentiality of project intellectual property
Analyse, interpret, and present scientific results internally and to external stakeholders
Work independently and with collaborators to develop new research tools in the field of aquaculture infections

**Job requirements**:

- PhD in Biomedical Sciences, Biochemistry, Life Sciences, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Infectious Diseases, Immunology, or related fields.
- Applicants with relevant postdoctoral training experience can be considered
- Experience in infection/immunity, genetic model systems, microscopy, handling BSL-2 pathogens, histology, animal husbandry, micromanipulation will have an added advantage
- Experience in supervision of students/interns, competitive grants/scholarships an added advantage
- Experience in laboratory and animal husbandry administration
- Training and demonstrated ability to perform molecular biology techniques
- Demonstrated ability to complete research projects
- Demonstrated ability to pursue multiple lines of investigation concurrently
- Highly motivated and able to work independently
- Strong analytical, technical and problem-solving skills
- Team player with good interpersonal skills and ability to make those around them better
- Good spoken and written communication skills
