We are looking to hire a Ship Design Plan Approval Lead (Gas Carriers) to join our team of experts in a dynamic and growing company that is driving the energy transition.

**What you will be doing.**:
This role will be based in Middle East / East Asia. It will be initially at the client’s site and will transition to an office at the nominated shipyard for the duration of the project.
- Serve as the Project Manager and interface with the client, the nominated shipyard, Class Society, the newbuild site supervision team, and our internal team of discipline engineers for plan review on behalf of the charterer of a new class of IGC-compliant gas carriers.
- Lead and coordinate the plan review process for gas carriers such as LNGCs and VLGCs, coordinating review activities by our discipline plan review engineers, also managing the consumption of the approved budget of man-hours for plan review activities
- Provide technical expertise and guidance to stakeholders through all stages of the design process
- Take an active role in the evaluation and approval of designs, plans, drawings, and technical specifications for compliance with the newbuild specification and associated rules, regulations, and guidelines
- Identify and address potential design issues, recommending improvements and solutions.
- Ensure that all design changes and updates are thoroughly reviewed and documented, and support the end client’s commercial negotiations with the nominated shipyard in relation to design changes.
- Lead and/or participate in design review discussions with various stakeholders, including equipment/technology suppliers as appropriate in support of the plan review process and acting always in Longitude and our client’s best interests
- Stay up-to-date with advancements in gas carrier technologies and best practices for the design, construction, and operation of gas carriers.
- The ability and willingness to travel frequently, and to be located temporarily in the end client’s office and then at the nominated shipyard’s office for the duration of the project

**What we are looking for.**:
Excellent written and verbal English business and technical English, and strong computer skills (MS Office, Sharepoint, AutoCAD, etc) are a basic requirement for this role.
- 2+ years of experience serving as Chief Engineer aboard a gas carrier
- Experience as lead plan approval engineer / plan approval manager for at least one complete gas carrier project on behalf of a Class Society, a Ship Owner/Manager, or a Charterer
- A Bachelor’s degree in naval architecture or marine engineering, 8 years of experience in the design of tankships (or 5 years if gas carriers)
- 2+ years of experience serving as technical interface / point of contact with a shipyard [on behalf of ship owner/manager or charterer] during the design review phase of a shipbuilding contract for a gas carrier (or 5+ years if for other types of tankers)

Related experience, e.g., with newbuilding site supervision, negotiation of shipbuilding contracts, experience in the repair and upgrade of gas carriers on behalf of the owner/manager or shipyard, will be considered favorably.
