Job Description / Duties:
We are seeking a **Research Engineer **specializing in flight planning software for drones conducting facade inspections. You will develop advanced algorithms for **route planning, optimization, and swarming **using **off-the-shelf drone platforms **, with the potential to integrate **LiDAR sensors **and **4G communication **dongles. The role involves significant fieldwork and hands-on experience in real-world drone operations. The ultimate goal is to develop a **Ground Control Station (GCS) **for managing drone fleets efficiently in inspection tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

- **Algorithm Development**: Design and implement robust algorithms for route planning, optimization, and multi-drone swarming.
- **Drone Integration**: Work with off-the-shelf drone platforms and integrate additional hardware (LiDAR, 4G dongles).
- **Field Operations**: Lead and participate in field tests and data collection for drone-based facade inspections.
- **Ground Control Station (GCS) Development**: Develop a centralized platform to manage and monitor multiple drones during facade inspection missions.
- **Hardware-Software Integration**: Ensure seamless communication between the drones and the GCS.
- **Photogrammetry & Machine Learning**: Use photogrammetry tools and machine learning techniques to generate accurate 3D models from 2D images.
- **Geometrical Analysis & Mapping**: Develop and implement algorithms for geometrical analysis, localization, and mapping.
- **Data Processing**: Implement real-time data collection, processing, and analysis for inspection missions.
- **Collaboration**: Work closely with a multidisciplinary team, including software developers, engineers, and operators, to achieve project goals.

Work experience/Skills required:

- **Education**: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field is required.
- **Experience**: A minimum of 2 years of experience in relevant fields.
- **Strong Algorithms Developments Experience**: Demonstrated experience in route optimization, swarming, path planning, and geometrical analysis.
- **Field Experience**: Hands-on experience in field drone operations.
- **Hardware Experience**: Familiarity with drone hardware and payloads (e.g., LiDAR).
- **Photogrammetry & ML**: Experience with photogrammetry software and machine learning for generating 3D models from 2D images.
- **Programming**: Proficient in Python (preferred), C++, or similar languages for algorithms and software development.
