**The Role**:
**Purpose**:

- To provide Marine and Cryogenic Engineering support to marine and offshore construction and conversion projects in which **Shell Shipping & Maritime Technology and Innovation** is engaged, and to other parts of the Group. Additional Engineering support is also expected in developing solutions for transition and new fuels such as Methane, Hydrogen, Ammonia and handling cryogenic CO2 as part of Carbon Capture and Storage projects.

**Accountabilities**:

- Participate and lead discipline in project teams for new construction and conversions, including the preparation of outline specifications, evaluation of tenders, negotiation with short listed bidders, plan approval, design discussions with builder, attendance at factory acceptance tests, commissioning and trials.
- Effective liaison with personnel from professional industrial bodies, classification societies, shipyards, shipping fleet management operation units and Shell Group discipline engineers.
- Identify means for cost savings whilst maintaining the highest levels of safety and creating the appropriate climate for innovation within the discipline.
- Presentation of complex marine and cryogenic technical issues in a manner to persuade and influence non-technical people, possibly from within the Group or joint venture partners, in the direction which best serves the Groups needs.

**Dimensions**:

- The position requires interaction with Projects and Technology in Rijswijk, Bangalore and Houston.
- May be designated as a Technical Authority (TA) or Subject Matter Expert (SME).

**Skills & Requirements**:

- A Degree in Mechanical/Marine Engineering or First Class Certificate of Competency as a sea going Senior Engineer with further extensive, relevant experience in Marine and Cryogenic Engineering and/or industry, demonstrated through career history.
- Previous or current working experience with Engineering Consultancies, Classification Societies and/or Engine Manufacturers is considered advantageous.
- Full understanding of the relevant International Standards, Classification Society Rule and Regulations, and Shell Design Engineering Practices for hazardous areas.
- Able to demonstrate a flexible approach and be able to handle engineering issues encountered during conceptual design, detailed design, test and commissioning, and operation.
- A team player with the necessary communication (oral and written) skills to interface with other disciplines
- Professional with ability to work with mínimal supervision demonstrating management and negotiating skills.
- Lead various aspects of discussions with manufacturers with regard to design, testing and operation of equipment.
- Ability to analyze and develop proposals and solutions to a wide range of technical and operational problems related to marine engineering and cryogenic systems.

- The position shall be of hybrid working type with base in one of the key Shell Technology Centers - London, Rotterdam, Singapore, Bangalore and Houston.
- The position also requires occasional travels on a global basis.
