PublicPolicyAsia Advisors is looking for a experienced research assistant (RA) to undertake dedicated research on public policy issues related to Asia and ASEAN. The RA will prepare the first draft of report or article for submission to client or publication in selected magazines and academic journals.
**Responsibilities**:
The Research Assistant will have the following responsibilities:
1. Conduct research and literature review on selected public policy topics related to Asia and ASEAN.
2. Support interviews with policymakers, academics and important stakeholders for the writing of research reports, policy briefs and journal articles.
3. Collect and analyse information and assemble information from a wide variety of sources, both primary and secondary, and synthesise the research material.
4. Produce research findings in various statistical formats and creatively represent the data in different charts, tables and graphs.
5. Support the publication of articles in public policy jounals and Op-ed pieces.
6. Support the organisation of seminars, workshops and webinars to disseminate the information and findings of papers and reports.
7. Organise, update and maintain work documents.
8. Offer research and administrative support for other projects as requested.
Qualifications:
(Essential)
1. Excellent oral and written English and communication skills.
2. Ability to work independently and remotely as a part of the team demonstrating initiative and reliability. Must be result-oriented.
3. Strong analytical, problem-solving and interpersonal skills, organisational abilities and attention to detail required.
4. Knowledge about ASEAN and processes.
5. Preferably, Master's or Bachelor's (Hons) Degree graduates or students in public policy, political science, international relations etc.
6. Previous experience as research assistant and academic writing skills will be advantegous.
(Desirable)
1. Research experience for 1-2 years.
2. Thorough knowledge of library and online research resources with the capacity to conduct independent research with minimum supervision.
3. Working knowledge of software such as STATA, NVivo, Deedose, Zotero etc.
Duration of Assignment:
The position is a part-time position for one year with a probabtion of up to 3 months. The RA will work remotely but will be required to have weekly face-to-face meetings at the office.
