Main Purpose:

Key Responsibilities:
- Source and fix time charter vessels (Supramax) across Asia to meet internal cargo requirements and trading strategies.- Develop and manage strong commercial relationships with regional shipowners, particularly in Japan, Taiwan, and China.- Negotiate competitive charter terms and ensure alignment with operational, commercial, and risk requirements.- Monitor market trends, freight indices, and vessel availability to provide accurate and timely market intelligence.- Work closely with cargo desks, operations, and deals desk (risk) teams to optimize fleet performance and commercial outcomes.- Maintain up-to-date market coverage and provide regular reporting on freight opportunities and risks.- Support strategic initiatives and contribute to the long-term chartering strategy of the organisation

Knowledge Skills and Abilities, Key Responsibilities:
- 5-10 years of experience in dry freight chartering, with a strong focus on Supramax or Panamax segments.- Proven track record in time chartering and tonnage procurement.- Background from a shipowner, operator, commodity trading company or freight brokerage, with strong market credibility.- Deep understanding of the Asia dry bulk market, especially in Japan, Taiwan, and China.- Existing network of shipowners and operators in the region.- Excellent commercial, negotiation, and communication skills.- Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced, and performance-driven environment.- Based in Singapore or willing to relocate.

The Trafigura Dry Freight Trading Desk maintains key relationships with shipowners and operators, global charterers, freight brokers, and shipping agencies to secure vessel capacity and negotiate favorable terms. Internally, the desk works closely with Trafigura's commodity trading and operations teams.
